Scorned is the thirty-third story mission of Destiny 2, and the second story mission of the Forsaken expansion. After Uldren Sov kills Cayde-6 and the Scorn flee from the Prison of Elders, Guardians must team up with the associates of the Spider to help clear out the Scorn who are invading his territory.

Spider's Safehouse

Ghost: Petra is out for blood. But we're here for justice. Aren't we? Anyway, let's hope Spider's tip about Uldren and the Barons' location is solid. No point in making a deal with the devil if the devil doesn't come through.

The Guardian(s) leave the Safehouse in search of the Baron's hideout. First, however, they must collect 2 of Spider's caches stolen by Scorn Bandits. 2 of Spider's men spawn right beside the Guardian(s).

Assault the Barons' hideout
On approach and after killing off some of the guards, Elykris, the Machinist teleports onto the field to help out the guards. After losing a third of her healt, she warps off the field.

Ghost: They know we're coming now. No time to lose.

The Guardian(s) enter the Quitter's Well and are given another objective.
Retrieve Spider's Cache
After clearing out the first segment of the Quitter's Well, the Guardian(s) reclaim the lost cache. Two of Spider's Associates teleport to the Well and maneuver to the nearby locked door and open it. The Guardian(s) come face-to-face with Pirrha, the Rifleman.

The Rifleman: Go on... take out you Ghost... I need the target practice.

Ghost: Look out!

The Rifleman:Every shot I take adds another soldier to the Scorn army.

After dueling the Rifleman and his reinforcements, he is prompted to retreat, not before killing one of the Associates. After pursuing the Rifleman and facing off against a Deranged Abomination, the Guardian(s) find themselves at another locked door.

Ghost: Spider... we lost one of your guys.

The Spider: The cost of doing business, my friend. Do not let it trouble you.

After collecting one of Spider's caches from the end of the hallway, two of Spider's most trusted Associates, Arrha and Avrok, warp into the Quitter's Well and open the nearby door. Behind it lies a Scorn Walker flanked by Scorn troops. After dismantling the Walker, the Guardian(s) press deeper into the Hollowed Lair, finding another Spider's Cache, suspiciously placed without any Scorn guards. After retrieving the cache, a Scorn Bind-Totem is activated at the spot and the Scorn guards reveal themselves.

Ghost: It was booby trapped!

The Trickster: [Mocking laughter]

After killing all of the ambushers, the gate allowing deeper access into the Hollowed Lair opens up. Passing through the House of Kings' old den, the Guardian(s) find themselves at a bridge leading into the threshold of the Hollowed Lair. Before crossing, however, Reksis Vahn, the Hangman teleports to the other end of the bridge and brings down his massive censer, unleashing a wave of fire. After forcing the Baron and his forces to retreat, the Guardian(s) move across the bridge.
  • The Fanatic: You fight... you kill... it pleases me. Pleases King Uldren. You think you will defeat my Scorn, my siblings, AND my father all at once? You think you will succeed where Cayde-6 failed? Kill a Fallen, I claim it as Scorn. Kill a Scorn, I raise ten more!
After arriving in the Hollowed Lairs main den, the path towards the threshold will be covered in Flame-Totems. After navigating past the defenses, the Guardian(s) near the threshold.
  • The Fanatic: I do not need Barons to slaughter you. My Scorn will be enough to end you.
The ether barrier dissipates, allowing the Guardian(s) to enter the threshold and find Fikrul in the middle of a ritual involving the Scorn of the Fanatic. The Fanatic snaps his attention away from the Scorn.
  • The Fanatic: Rise, my Scorn. Give this dead thing it's final death.
The Fanatic retreats behind an ether-barrier while the Scorn of the Fanatic rises and it's reinforcements arrive to face off against the Guardian(s). The conflict ensues and the Scorn of the Fanatic begins to become battered from all of the punishment it had received.
  • The Fanatic: Yes yes yes. Killing is what you do. Killing is ALL you do.
After a long conflict with the Fanatic's lieutenant, the Scorn of the Fanatic is slain.
  • The Fanatic: I do not fear the dead. I control death. And YOU... more use to me alive. Go. Pursue your vengeance. I claim your Fallen victims for my Scorn army.
The Fanatic retreats and the ether-barrier dissipates.
  • The Ghost: The stronghold is secure... but the Barons escaped. This was our best shot at ending this. And now they've scattered. What are we gonna do now?
