Season of the Deep was the 21st Season of Destiny 2 and the second Season of the Lightfall annual pass, which released on May 23rd, 2023, and ended on August 22nd, 2023.
The story centers around the Vanguard and their allies reuniting with the missing Deputy Commander Sloane, who formed a psychic connection with an ancient sea creature named Ahsa beneath the methane oceans of Titan. Now Guardians must delve deep into the depths of the seas and salvage the means to strengthen Sloane's connection for them to uncover vital information about the Witness, its goals and its origins; all before Xivu Arath, God of War and her forces could corrupt the moon and Sloane herself.

Story: Into the Abyss
- "Titan’s ocean floor is teeming with Taken and Hive searching for something at the bottom of its methane ocean. Guardians must follow them into the deep to uncover ancient secrets and learn more about the Witness’s origins."

- "Recover Golden Age tech from sunken Arcology structures on Titan. Explore the seafloor for the first time as you face the Lucent Hive and a variety of enemies in several unpredictable encounters."
