Graviton Lance is an Exotic Pulse Rifle in Destiny 2. It was one of the first Exotic rarity weapons to be offered to the player, alongside Sunshot and Riskrunner. Nowadays, the weapon can be obtained from Exotic engrams, or bought from Xur should they be offering it.
Lore[edit]
THINK OF SPACE-TIME AS A TAPESTRY ON A LOOM. THIS WEAPON IS THE NEEDLE.
"So wait, that thing you found does... what?"
"It fires black holes."
"No it doesn't."
"Oh yeah. It does. Actual, tiny, bullet-sized black holes."
"Did you tell the others?"
"Only that I found some weird gun in some overgrown tunnel back on Old Chicago. And that my Ghost was all, 'THIS is why we were led here...'"
"Yours talks that way too?"
"What do you think?"
"OK, OK, but the gun-- are you going to tell them?"
"Yeah, definitely."
"When?"
"Crucible."
"Oh no."
"Oh yes."
Gameplay[edit]
Graviton Lance is a Void pulse rifle. It has the ability to fire two-shot bursts. The second shot in the burst does not have damage falloff, and due to its recoil, it can be treated like a scout rifle. When an enemy is killed with Graviton Lance, they will be sent flying backwards to explode into Void energy, releasing seeking projectiles that also make enemies explode if they are killed by them. Graviton Lance was a top contender in the Crucible as of the 1.2.0 update, which introduced a significant buff to pulse rifles. Amongst the guns improved by this update were the Vigilance Wing exotic pulse rifle, which rivaled the time to kill of Graviton Lance to within hundredths of a second. Despite this time in the sun, Graviton Lance became vastly outclassed by other guns, and sat near to the bottom of the pile in effectiveness within Crucible environments. With the release of Season of the Deep, Graviton Lance was given an update to promote its viability in both Player versus Environment and Player versus Player environments. With the rate of fire increased from 257 to 300, and a rebalance to the damage done by each shot in the burst, the gun returned to become a mainstay in the Crucible, necessitating a further rebalance to remove the Hidden Hand catalyst perk, reducing the aim assist applied to the gun. A further 67% damage buff was provided to it in PvE, allowing it to perform even better outside the Crucible.

Catalyst[edit]
The catalyst for Graviton Lance can be obtained as a random reward from playlist activities, such as Strikes and Crucible.
To complete the catalyst, the following objectives must be met:
- 2500 enemies killed with Graviton Lance
- 1000 Cosmology kills
Once completed, the catalyst provides the following extra traits to Graviton Lance:
- Vorpal Weapon: Increased damage against bosses, vehicles, and Guardians with their Super active.
- Turnabout: Using this weapon to break the shield of a combatant or a Guardian using their Super will grant you an overshield.
Catalyst prior to Update 4.1.0[edit]
Previous to Update 4.1.0, Graviton Lance was given the following trait after completion of the catalyst:
- Hidden Hand: Better target acquisition.
Trivia[edit]
- With Collective Obligation, Graviton Lance is one of only two Energy class exotic pulse rifles, both Void in element.
- The Lore description of the Ice Breaker exotic revealed the existence of gravity-based weaponry previously developed by Häkke's Golden Age predecessor in Old Chicago, hinting at a strong implication of Graviton Lance being a Häkke-based weapon.[1]
