"Ikora heads up a group called 'the Hidden.' They're a 'crack group of intelligence agents.' In other words, spies. I'm just glad she's on our side."
— Ghost[1]

The Hidden are a group of Guardians who work as deep-infiltration scouts for Ikora Rey, unofficially becoming the Vanguard's spy network. They work in secret, gathering intelligence on the activities of the Darkness and other enemies of the City.

History[edit]

Transmission Incident[edit]

A variety of technological mites were discovered within Freehold, and began infecting Guardians. The Owl Sector contacted Ikora and the Hidden to see if they had any information on the mites. However, the Hidden had no prior experience to anything similar.[2] Together, the Hidden and Owl Sector were unsuccessful in countering the mites armor overrides, resulting in the Vanguard deciding to set a quarantine.[3] After the amount of Guardians infected continued to increase, Ikora granted Acting Liaison Ramos full access to the Hidden. Working with the Owl Sector and Techeuns, a cure was developed.[2]

Monitoring Eido[edit]

Ikora wrote a report detailing an intercepted conversation between Eido and the Spider regarding Eramis. She noted that it took place over an encrypted connection at a terminal in the Botza District, and the Spider's personal datapad. She commented that Mithrax should be informed to review security protocols to prevent external data breaches. She advised further monitoring of Eido's personal logs to prevent unauthorized contact with House of Salvation. Lastly she noted that agent EKS-443 should be approached for greater context on non-verbal Eliksni communications.[4]

Idle Enclave Dialogue[edit]

"You wanna be a Hidden agent? There's only a couple rules. Find thy self. Know thy self. Destroy thy self."

""Find thy self." It's not just keeping a diary. A Hidden operative is a puzzle, and that means knowing how other people piece you together."

""Know thy self" means knowing what you can do and what you won't do, and understanding the difference between "can't" and "don't want to"."

""Destroy thy self" is the hardest. You need to change everything. How you think, how you fight… what you'll do to win. Dying doesn't sting as much."

"I asked Eris Morn once if her Hive eyes cause her problems. She said, "these eyes came to me by need and blood. They are fate woven into flesh"."

"You'll want to talk to Ikora. She's the genius."

"Ikora encourages the Hidden to pick up hobbies that hone critical thinking. A lot of us do board games, if you wanna join in."

"I mean, yeah, "On Circles" starts out a little dry, but it really picked up for me in Volume 9 when she introduces para-tangents."

"I don't want to make this awkward, but if it comes up, remind Ikora that we all still look up to her."

"Ikora getting quiet again? It's not you, she does that on big cases, but she's still paying attention and she'll watch out for you."

"Am I concerned that Mars's timeline is overcooked rotini? Sure, but now we can watch a slice of the Golden Age unfold."

"Who doesn't get a little help working through their problems visually? Stare it in the eye! Demands answers! Maybe rough it up a little!"

"Get this: Aliah's working on a sensor algorithm to scrape hard drives inside the temporal anomalies. We could recover actual Golden Age data!"

"Mars is covered with temporal anomalies, right? So, what if we're assuming the wrong sequence of events?"

"No ETA on those gravitational wave sensors, but I think I've got a workaround!"

"I'm compiling as fast as I can, but I've still got telemetry coming in from seismic sensors. Report's gonna have to wait until morning."

"Savathûn's always three steps ahead. It's like she's breaking out the Sandwiched Horse Defense, while we're still setting up the board."

"Throne worlds, right? I mean, procedural matters suspended in a quantum superposition? Who does that?! Y'know, still so cool though."

"Wouldn't hurt to keep notes of everything you see. Savathûn's throne world reflects her mind, so even tiny details might provide clues."

"That throne world metal, Fundamental Osmium? Can you find any more? I think we can use it to kit-bash some Golden Age alloys."

"In theory, all we need to do to solve this is eliminate the impossible, but then some people keep doing the impossible, don't they?"

"That little Hive Ghost… Fynch, right? I don't think he's got another agenda, but he's got something to prove maybe to you, maybe to himself."

"I'm looking up anything I can on our rogue Hive Ghost Immaru, but the sneaky little bugger scrubbed a lot of his files."
