Gorkall, the Gatekeeper is a Taken Ogre in the European Dead Zone tasked with protecting the anchor that the Dire Taken intended to utilize to pull the Ascendant Plane into Earth.

Gameplay

Gorkall, the Gatekeeper is encountered at the radio tower on the mountain of Hangman's Pass where it serves as the final boss of Espial. From the top of the station, Gorkall will fire Arc blasts at the Guardian while being assisted by numerous Dire Taken being summoned forth from the Blights. When Gorkall losses half of its health, the Taken Ogre will manifest an Immunity Shield and call forth Taken rifts in the sky. Destroying the three Taken rifts will dispel the Gorkall's Immunity Shield and allow the Guardian to damage the boss. Once Gorkall, the Gatekeeper is slain the final encounter is complete and the Guardian can enter the portal that will allow them to begin the Recce mission.
