Golmag, Warden of the Spring is a powerful Hive Ogre who is one of the four daily-rotating bosses of the Wellspring activity. It attempts to defend the Wellspring from the attacking Guardians and prevent it from being recaptured.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

Golmag is one of the two rotating bosses of The Wellspring: Attack. They can be found in the final area, kneeling in the center of the room whilst protected by an immunity shield. After all of the other objectives have been completed, three crystals will appear around the Warden. Once they have been destroyed, the boss fight will commence, and large hordes of Lucent Hive will rush to assist it. Golmag will continuously fire a focused stream of Void projectiles at whichever player is within its gaze, which can rapidly kill one if they do not find cover from the blast. It is also capable of creating and throwing Solar Mortar grenades at long distances, which inflict heavy damage and leave behind large, flaming pools where they land, forcing players to temporarily avoid those areas. If someone gets too close to the Ogre, it will create a giant shock wave by stomping the ground, knocking back anyone who is within range and causing large amounts of damage. In the later stages of the fight, Golmag can enter Berserk Mode and charge at a player, attempting to crush them under its foot, whilst firing at them with eye basts as it approaches. Small groups of Thrall will frequently come to aid it, and much larger hordes of combatants when it sustains significant damage.

Once a quarter of its health has been drained, the Warden will protect itself with an immunity shield and more Hive will spawn to assist it. In order to bring down the boss' defenses, the Fireteam must steal a Void Charge, dropped from killing a Butcher of the Spring, and deposit it in the Wellspring at the center of the arena. Doing this will disable the Ogre's shield and allow players to continue the battle. Golmag will summon immunity shields another two times as the fight progresses, forcing players to repeat the process of killing the Butchers and placing their charges multiple times with increasing amounts of Butchers. Once its shield has been disabled for the third time, the Warden will no longer be able to resist the players' attacks, and can finally be defeated.
