"You will address her as 'Queen'"
— Shuro Chi

Shuro Chi, formerly known as Shuro Chi, the Corrupted while she was Taken, is an Awoken Techeun who served Queen Mara Sov. She assisted the Queen several times, once to reach out to straying Awoken,[1] and another as a bodyguard since the Wolf Rebellion.[2] Shuro also served as liaison between the Techeuns and the other Awoken, particularly the Queen's Wrath Petra Venj, ameliorating personality clashes and distrust.[3]

Biography

"You will address her as 'Queen.'"
— Shuro Chi scolding an engineer for not properly addressing Mara Sov[4]

Shortly after the Awoken returned to the Solar System from the Distributary, Shuro Chi and her fellow Techeuns assisted the newly crowned Queen Mara Sov in dealing with several crises as their civilization established itself in the Reef. Following an exodus of Awoken who felt they needed to return to Earth and assist the remaining Humans living there, Sedia and the Techeuns augmented the Queen's powers to reach out to them and appeal for them to return to the Reef.[5]

The Wolf Rebellion

During the Wolf Rebellion, Chi participated in a discussion with Prince Uldren Sov, Paladin Yasmin Eld, and Petra Venj on Skolas' attempts to rally the House of Kings.[6] In the aftermath of the rebellion, she and Sedia would replace the Wolves' Guard as Queen Mara's primary bodyguards in her throne room. At a meeting with the Warlock Osiris and the Hunter Eris Morn, the two Techeuns were offended by the insolent tone they felt Eris possessed when addressing Mara, but they were silenced by Mara, who appreciated Eris' candor. At the meeting, they learned of the coming of Oryx, the Taken King to the Solar System and Eris' dedication to destroying him, a plan to which Mara agreed to participate in.[7]

Enacting the Plan

Before the fateful Battle of Saturn, Shuro participated in a rare meeting with the Coven, discussing what to do about Oryx, the Taken King. She was instructed by Illyn to take the youngest Harbingers to "plant them" into the Dreadnaught, "to have children of their own".[8]

After the battle, Shuro was presumed dead alongside Kalli, Sedia and Mara Sov.[9] Without her influence, the relationship between Petra Venj and the remaining Techeuns deteriorated.[10]

She was later Taken when Oryx unleashed the Dreadnaught's superweapon in retaliation for deploying the Harbingers.[11]

Freed From Corruption

When The Guardian first reached the Dreaming City, Shuro was present along with her fellow Taken Techeuns. Upon the Guardian's approach, she and her sister Techeuns immediately banished them into the Ascendant Realm, forcing them to escape.[12]

Eventually, Shuro became one of the last lines of defense against the Guardian Raid team that sought to slay Riven, and was freed from her Taken corruption after being weakened.[13] Following this, Shuro would periodically contact the Guardian regarding Public Events within the Dreaming City.

Shuro can also be found replacing normal scan patrols in the Dreaming City. When approached, she will guide the Young Wolf towards a point of interest and offer insight relating to it and the foundations of the Dreaming City and the Awoken.
