Destiny
Lore
Some legends live forever. Others are overwritten—reshaped by the sheer will of those who believe that any ordeal can be conquered, any foe vanquished, any god cast down.
The Mythoclast is a Vex instrument from some far-flung corner of time and space, mysteriously fit for Human hands. Its origins, mechanism of action, and ultimate purpose remain unknown. Perhaps it will reveal itself to you, in time…
Gameplay
Vex Mythoclast is a unique one-of-a-kind fusion rifle that fits into the Primary Weapon Slot. Unlike other fusion rifles, it has no charge time; a single squeeze of the trigger fires a shot, and it is capable of sustained fire, making it behave more like an auto rifle while benefiting from fusion rifle perks on armor. It also has the ability to deal precision damage, unlike other fusion rifles.

Gameplay
Like its Destiny counterpart, the Vex Mythoclast is unique amongst fusion rifles. Instead of charging up a rapid burst of bolts, the Vex Mythoclast fires in full-auto. Additionally and unlike its Destiny counterpart, it is a hybrid weapon capable of switching between its auto rifle mode to a linear fusion rifle mode. Kills overcharge the weapon, up to a maximum of six, to which it can switch to its linear fusion rifle mode. Different enemy tiers provide differing charge levels. The linear fusion bolts are quite powerful, as each one can instantly kill a Quantum Harpy in a single shot from a considerable distance, provided said shot is a precision hit, and they can also pierce and kill two to three targets at once provided that they are fairly weak. Bolts fired from the Vex Mythoclast in either mode can also ricochet if they hit the ground at an angle.
Perks
- Timeless Mythoclast: This weapon fires full auto when in its default firing mode.
- Arrowhead Brake: Lightly vented barrel. Greatly controls recoil. Increases handling speed.
- Volatile Battery: This battery simultaneously exists in multiple timelines, causing the weapon to Overcharge.
- Temporal Unlimiter: Defeating targets builds stacks of Overcharge. Hold R to swap firing modes when fully Overcharged. In alternative firing mode, hold the trigger to charge up and fire more powerful linear fusion shots.
- Hand-Laid Stock: This weapon is optimized for recoil control. Increases stability.
Exotic Catalyst
- Calculated Balance: While in full auto mode, final blows with this weapon grant bonus damage, accuracy, and stability for a short duration.

Trivia
- The name "Mythoclast" is derived from the Greek words "mûthos", or "fable/legend" and klastós or "broken in pieces". Thus the literal definition of the name is "Breaker of Myths" or “Destroyer of Myths”.
- The Mythoclast is the first primary exotic weapon that does solar damage in Destiny.
- After Update 2.0, the in-game screen of the weapon mistakenly shows a magazine size of three rounds.
- The Ishtar Collective may have gathered data on this weapon and its function and inner workings as part of their Infinity Initiative in the late Golden Age, leading to the development of Pocket Infinity
- The weapon is forged from the same materials as active Vex in the Ishtar Sink and is considered an active, if non-sentient, part of their neuro-electronic network.
- This is the only Vault of Glass weapon not forged by Kabr or a member of the Lost Legion.
- The Titan Joxer owned a Mythoclast prior to the Red War.[2]
- Instead of simply killing its target and leaving the body behind as most auto rifles do, the Vex Mythoclast disintegrates enemies killed by it in a burst of Solar flames and ash, as do all Solar fusion rifles.
