Black Spindle is an Exotic Year 2 version of the Black Hammer sniper rifle.
Acquisition
Unlike many other Exotic weapons, the black spindle cannot be obtained by random loot drop or quests. Instead, it is obtained by entering a secret area during the Lost to Light mission on heroic difficulty. After defeating Baxx, the Gravekeeper in what is supposed to the ending, the player has to escape the Hellmouth. However, instead of exiting through the Temple of Crota's entrance, if the player instead runs as quickly as they can to the Dusk Warren (the fire team must not wipe in order for the door to be open) before it is sealed off and enters the Traitor's Ketch. Once the fireteam gets though the door and up the teleporter where the main part of the Taniks Perfected strike is, they'll be given a 10 minute challenge to eliminate all Taken, including blights and a Taken boss similar to Taniks, the Scarred in the final room where Taniks was fought. If the players are successful, they'll receive Black Spindle at 290 Light, which can then be infused up to the max Light possible.[1] The main strategy to getting this weapon is that players should use abilities and weapons that are capable of quickly mowing down enemies and have high damage-per-second capaility. Super attacks such as those on Sunbreaker Titans, Nightstalker Hunters and Stormcaller Warlocks are recommended.
Gameplay
Like Black Hammer, Black Spindle's unique perk is White Nail; if all three shots are precision shots, then the magazine is automatically refilled from the weapon's reserves. This differs from perfectionist, which refunds shots but requires precision kills.
