- — Weapon Description
No Land Beyond is an Exotic sniper rifle in Destiny added in the The Dark Below expansion pack. It can be obtained from Xûr, Agent of the Nine or as a random drop from an Exotic primary engram.
Gameplay[edit]
Year One[edit]
Unlike other Sniper Rifles, No Land Beyond is equipped in the player's primary weapon slot. It features a unique bolt-action reload mechanic, which requires the player to manually cycle the weapon between every shot, reducing its overall rate of fire. It is also the only sniper rifle to not feature a traditional scope, but rather iron sights.
Because of its incredibly niche role, it is widely considered to be one of, if not the most useless exotic weapons in Destiny because of both its slow mechanics and the amount of time required to become familiar and comfortable with how the weapon handles; some of it has to do with the entire iron sights moving with the player when strafing and aiming down the sights, which is not seen on any other Sniper Rifle. A huge problem for many is that after each shot, the wielder has to manually cycle in the next round due to its nature as a bolt-action rifle, meaning that if they miss a headshot, the wielder cannot quickly fire to hit them again.
Weapon perks[edit]
Column One
- CQB Ballistics: Greatly reduced recoil. Significant penalty to range.
- Soft Ballistics: Less recoil. Penalty to impact.
- Accurized Ballistics: More range and impact. Increased recoil.
Column Two
- Mulligan: Missing a shot has a chance to return ammo directly to the magazine.
Column Three
- Lightweight: When held, this weapon grants +2 character Agility.
- Snapshot: Aiming this weapon is incredibly fast.
- Flared Magwell: Reload this weapon even faster.
Exotic Perk
- The Master: Increased precision damage. Kills briefly increase damage against next target.
Year Two[edit]
Year 2 brought no significant changes to this weapon, with the exception of a minor tweak to the iron sights.
Trivia[edit]
- The weapon design is based off the PTRS-41
- The name of the weapon is a reference to the Soviet sniper Vasily Zaytsev. One of his famous quotes during the battle of Stalingrad was "There is no land beyond the Volga".
- Devrim Kay uses a weapon that bears a striking resemblance to No Land Beyond in Destiny 2.
- During the later stages of Destiny 1, due to a special ammo nerf, No Land Beyond become very common in the Crucible.
- During this time it was discovered that the weapon's flinch was purely cosmetic and that accuracy always went to the center of the screen regardless of incoming damage. Skilled guardians used this bug to great effect until it was fixed by Bungie.
