The Revenant Scorn, also known as Na-Veskirisk (meaning Not-Lifeless) to the Eliksni, are a faction of Scorn. While there are common Scorn within their ranks like Fikrul, the Fanatic, they are most notable for having living Fallen converted into their ranks through the Echo of Riis.

History

"You wonder if your Kell has a plan for escape, or how she would ever be taken willingly, and whether you're missing elements of a nuanced plan. Without waiting for orders, you silently key up your systems and power your Arc weapons…

After being pushed out of the Tangled Shore, Fikrul languished until after the events of The Final Shape when he came across an Echo which, when harnessed, gave Fikrul command over the Light on top of his command over the Darkness in his manipulation of Dark Ether. Fikrul would use this new power to begin resurrecting Scorn with Dark Ether once more and using his Echo to corrupt living Eliksni into Scorn as well. He'd also empower several of his soldiers into Revenant Barons, increasing the Revenant Scorn faction's power.

Fikrul would continue this practice in secret until he'd have enough effective power to where he'd launch an attack upon Riis-Reborn to capture as many House of Salvation Eliksni, including Eramis, Kell of Darkness, to join his ranks as Revenant Scorn. The Vanguard would learn of the Fikrul's plans while following distress calls from House Salvation civilians in a mission to capture Eramis, seeing Revenant Scorn rounding up Eliksni. While their mission to capture Eramis and pick up Salvation refugees was successful, the H.E.L.M. would be downed after Fikrul corrupted the crew of a Ketch sent to rescue Eramis into Scorn, causing it to collide with the H.E.L.M.

Following this, the Guardian would work alongside Crow, Eido, Eramis, Mithrax and Variks to rescue Eliksni from Enclaves across the system from the Revenant Scorn, Shadow Legion and the Dread.

Fikrul's next move was to move Ketchs full of prisoners into the Prison of Elders, leading to the Guardian delving into the abandoned prison to rescue them from Fikrul's forces, as well as the Taken and Lucent Hive drawn to the power of Fikrul's Echo. Among Fikrul's forces were the resurrected Machinist and Rifleman.

Eventually, the Guardian was able to follow Fikrul into the Prison of Elders. However, the Warden Servitor had locked Mithrax and Variks out of opening a way forward for the Guardian, but they were able to open a way through the recreation of a hymn neither of them recognized. Eventually, the Guardian finds Fikrul but is unable to stop him from resurrecting Skolas as a Scorn. While bested, Fikrul simply revives Skolas again and flees with the Undead Kell, but the Guardian was able to learn more of the Echo from a gleaned memory and how it sought a new master, one more worthy than Fikrul.

Following the resurrection of Skolas, Fikrul would construct the Revenant Fortress on the Tangled Shore to serve as his new base of operations. Within the fortress, the Revenant Scorn would discover the existence of the Revenant Plane manifested from the Echo's residual energy and would become capable of traversing this realm. Eventually, the Guardian would be dispatched to the Revenant Fortress to gather data for Eido's framework. Initially, Fikrul's followers would passively observe the Guardian's approach and would only engage with them once they reached the entrance. Traversing through Fikrul's lair, the Guardian would defeat the various watchmen in the fortress including the resurrected Trickster, Mad Bomber, and Mindbender. Breaching into the Fanatic's throne room, the Guardian defeats the Hangman and claims his flail.

Later, the Guardian infiltrates the Revenant Fortress with the task of contacting the imprisoned Apothecary, Ixis as her knowledge could assist them in creating a tonic to ensure Fikrul's defeat. Fighting through the Fanatic's resurrected followers, the Guardian establishes contact with Ixis and eliminates the Screeb Matriarch in the throne room before departing the lair once again. With Eido had successfully producing a tonic capable of purifying Fikrul's Dark Ether, the Guardian returns to the Revenant Fortress with the task of defeating the Scorned Kell once and for all. Striving to prove his significance, Fikrul confronts the Guardian himself with the intent of proving his merit to the claimant of Kell of Kells. Despite his immense power in his possession, Fikrul would be rendered mortal after the tonic was injected into his body and would perish one final time from its effects.

Regardless of the death of their Kell, the Revenant Scorn would continue to maintain their presence within the Prison of Elders. Driven by his desire for vengeance, Skolas challenges the Guardian to a confrontation in the Prison of Elders. Ultimately, the Guardian's strength would prove too formidable as the Scorned Wolf along with his adherents would be slain once again. However, Skolas would be merely be resurrected by a Revenant Totem and teleports away.

Structure

While the Revenant Scorn has the same command structure as the regular Scorn, with Fikrul as leader, it has a new type of commander known as the Revenant Baron; powerful Chieftains and Abominations that have the ability to return from death through the use of a Revenant Totem.
