Renascence is the fourth mission of Episode: Heresy.

"And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going."The following is a verbatim transcription of an official document for archival reasons. Drifter: Hey, uh… probably didn’t expect to hear from me again, huh? Bailing was a bad move. I admit it. Soon as I turned around, I picked up Sloane's message. I thought she was gonna chew me out. She didn't. Just told me what I needed to do next. Anyway, I'm here now, and Eris needs me. Need us. Find me on the Dreadnaught.

(Mission Begins)

The Guardian touches down on the Dreadnaught.

The Mausoleum, Dreadnaught, Rings of Saturn

The Guardian and meets up with Drifter

Drifter: Call me crazy. Hell, most already do. But I can't shake this. I won't. The Dreadnaught has one foot in the Ascendant Plane. Maybe… that's how she reached out. Find her. She's here. I should've known… I should've known. It'd take more than that.

Drifter transmats away.

Drifter: So I hear you got some shards of Oryx's sword, Willbreaker. Puttin' it back together won't be easy. All that Taken mojo you picked up from Sloane is a good start. But jammin' it into Crota's hilt? That'll take some real freaky Hive magic. Eris ain't here, so… I'm stepping up. It ain't the same, but I picked up a few tricks along the way. I'll do my part, and you do you, hero.

The Guardian travels deeper into the Dreadnaught and arrives to the Founts.

The Founts, Dreadnaught, Rings of Saturn

Arriving to the center of the Founts, the Guardian interacts with the Forge.

The forge hungers for Taken wills.

Across the walls of the Founts, Dire Taken materialize from the corruption and engage with the Guardian at the Forge. Eliminating the forces of the Dire Taken, the Guardian feeds their essence of scattered will to feed the Forge.

The Drifter uses a Hive ritual to conjure crystallised essence.

Drifter: That't it! Get those pieces together!

Through performing a Hive ritual, Drifter conjures three crystals on the right side of the room. The Guardian then destroys each individual crystal to manifest contrasting Hive runes. Following the destruction of each crystal, the Hive runes are dispelled and a circular sanctuary where the crystals once remained manifests. Additionally, a Corrupted Light manifests at the center of the Forge.

A Darkness bomb and a sanctuary are conjured

The Guardian stands in the proximity of the Corrupted Light to detonate it.

The Guardian has detonated a Corrupted Light

The Guardian retreats to the sanctuary as they take refugee from the explosion. Levitating into the air, the Corrupted Light detonates and its energy ingresses into the Forge. To produce additional energy, the Guardian repeats this same procedure with the sole distinction being the creation of sanctuaries on the left and rearward sides respectively. With significant energy generated, a powerful blade radiating with Taken energy is forged from the shards of Willbreaker and the hilt of the Sword of Crota. Acquiring the blade, the Guardian defeats the hordes of Dire Taken led by Warden Dorodoth, with the blade vanishing in the process.

Drifter: That thing's unstable, but we can still do this. Get to the rift, and I'll be ready.

Tempted by a call from a familiar individual, the Guardian travels through the Ascendant Plane until they arrive to the Hall of Souls.

Hall of Souls, Dreadnaught, Rings of Saturn

Drifter: You — you are the one who wounds! You are the blade-undulled! Damn it, Toland. I… She is the… blade-unforgotten! She is the… deep-scoured, vengeance-fed deathless! I am… I’m… oh, hell, just kill something with the damn sword! Aiat!

Travelling to the place where they once slew Oryx's court, the Guardian finds the Resonant Knife surrounded by a circular Taken shield. Retrieving the blade, the Guardian engages with the Dire Taken sent forth by the Resonant Knife.

Drifter: The Hive gods were conjured back by their natures. Yeah, I read the Books of Sorrow! A fella gets curious. Anyway, Eris was the God of Vengeance. So go get some!

After the Guardian eliminates the swarms of Dire Taken to enact vengeance, the Resonant Knife summons forth Alphrak, Keeper of the Rift and Raphrax, Keeper of the Rift. The Guardian then defeats the two Keepers of the Rift, resulting in the Resonant Knife retreating and the Taken shield that once surrounded it dissipating to reveal a circular green rift.

Eris Morn: Cut into the rift, Guardian! Cut the space between!

Drifter: Eris! Do it, Guardian! I'm on my way!

Utilizing the power of the sword, the Guardian cuts into the rift to produce a gateway leading to Eris. With a gateway leading to Eris created, the Guardian enters into this rift.
