"By pleasing their gods, the Hive carve scars on the fabric of our realm."
Toland, the Shattered

Urzok, the Hated is a Hive Knight who is honored by the lesser Hive as an executor that ritualistically sacrifices The Forsaken to fuel the Wizards' ritualistic tribute to their patrons, namely Crota and Oryx. While his primary role is that of an executioner, Urzok also has distinguished himself as a brutal warrior with none having faced the Hated lived to tell the tale.[1]

Urzok reappears in the Warmind expansion in Taken form as Urzok, Aspect of Hate. He serves as one of the Taken bosses of The Whisper, also appearing in Lost Oasis to trigger the mission start upon death.

Biography

After Crota's resurrection at the Chamber of Night was thwarted,[2] Urzok became the target of Eris Morn during a quest to empower the Urn of Sacrifice, which required the Hive's paracasual suffering at the Hated's Cleaver. The executor himself was later present during a skirmish between Hive and Fallen forces, where he met his end by power-hungry Guardians.[3]

However, Urzok would later be necromantically resurrected as a Taken pawn of the Worm god Xol, Will of the Thousands, serving as a champion to test the Guardians that killed Xol on Io.[4]

Gameplay

Original

Urzok only appears during Public Events and occasionally in skirmishes between the Blood of Oryx and the House of Devils at Skywatch. Being a Level 31 Ultra enemy, he is difficult to kill as he comes with a thick Arc shield that quickly regenerates and is typically in the company of other Hive mob enemies.

Urzok also serves as a target for the Urn of Sacrifice Quest for Eris Morn.

The Whisper

He appears on Io during the Taken Blight Public Event, together with Ta'aurc, Aspect of War and Drevis, Aspect of Darkness, and needs to be killed to start the quest for the Whisper of the Worm. He also returns as one of the final bosses of the quest, and killing him and all other enemies in the room rewards the player with the Whisper of the Worm.

Trivia

  • Because of his immense difficulty to kill and his Arc shield's near immediate regen, Urzok's title is particularly apt among the Destiny community.
