Volmâr, the Tempted is a Wizard seen as a secret boss in the Pit of Heresy, where they are seen within one of The Pit's dark chambers. Seen at the end of the dark path that would lead to the creation of the Xenophage, they hold onto a remnant of the fallen Hunter Omar Agah.[1]
Gameplay[edit]
At the start of the encounter, Volmâr will be impervious to all damage, raining down their Darkness Blasts on their enemies. Positioning themself in the center of the arena, they will defend the Light charge in the center while calling in Hive support to defend the Elemental pedestals. They cannot be damaged in any way; to deal damage to the Wizard, players must look at their own buffs, where they will see that they will either have Fiery Dread, Thunderous Dread, Abyssal Dread, or Neutral Dread. These buffs will indicate which elemental pedestal the center charge of Light must be placed for that specific person. Placing the charge in the incorrect place (mismatching with the dread) will apply the Unclear Path debuff, which will slow the player and obscure their vision, which can make them a susceptible target to Volmâr or their backup. After correctly placing the charge at the matching pedestal (top left - Abyssal, top right - Fiery, bottom left - Thunderous, and bottom right - Neutral), the player is free to damage Volmâr with a matching elemental weapon or ability (Abyssal - Void, Fiery - Solar, Thunderous - Arc, Neutral - Kinetic).
Trivia[edit]
- Although they appear as a member of the Hidden Swarm, Volmâr has the model of a Savathûn's Brood Wizard.
- Coincidently, all the Hive on the Moon amalgamated into the Hidden Swarm which could mean they previously were a member of Savathûn's Brood before the events of Shadowkeep.
- Interestingly, there was a glitch whereby players who did not have the Xenophage quest could damage Volmâr normally, without having to undergo the elemental dread mechanic. This has not been patched.
