Kalli is an Awoken Techeun who served Queen Mara Sov before being Taken by Oryx and transformed into Kalli, the Corrupted. She was freed from the Taken corruption by a fireteam of Guardians led by the Young Wolf. She is the first boss of the Last Wish raid.

Biography

Enacting The Plan

Before the fateful Battle of Saturn, Kalli was part of a rare meeting with the Coven, discussing what to do about Oryx, the Taken King. Kalli was instructed to take the youngest Harbingers into battle and to "plant them" inside the Dreadnaught to "have children of their own" alongside Sedia and Shuro Chi. She would also work alongside Shuro in the construction of the Gate to Mara's Throneworld, Eleusinia, in The Confluence as part of Mara's plan to ascend to godhood in her confrontation with Oryx. As the connection between the Blind Well and Eleusinia was being established, Sedia questioned if it was best for the Throne World to be left without a key, to which Kalli suggested that the key was metaphorically too heavy to lift as the gate to Eleusinia required a multi-week charge of paracausal energy which almost nothing in the system could produce the scale of energies needed to open it, except the Guardians.

When the Awoken fleet intercepted Oryx's Dreadnaught and escort vessels in the rings of Saturn, Kalli aided Shuro Chi and Sedia in providing support to Mara to launch the Harbingers at the Dreadnaught. While they succeeded in destroying the escort vessels, the Dreadnaught itself suffered no major damage, and Oryx responded to the assault upon his fleet by unleashing the Dreadnaught's primary weapon. The three Techeuns escaped via emergency selfgates to the Dreaming City as the Awoken fleet was annihilated, but Mara remained behind as part of the plan for her ascension into godhood. Unfortunately, Shuro Chi's efforts to bring Mara with them left her selfgate open long enough for Oryx's essence from the weapon to follow them into the Dreaming City, which resulted in Sedia and her two fellow Techeuns being Taken by Oryx alongside Riven and caused the corruption of the Dreaming City. Due to their disappearance, the Reef's remaining leadership assumed Sedia, Shuro, and Kalli had perished along with the rest of the fleet.

Freed From Corruption

When the Guardian first reached the Dreaming City, Kalli was present along with her fellow Taken Techeuns. Upon the Guardian's approach, she and her sister Techeuns immediately banished them into the Ascendant Realm, forcing them to escape. During the Guardian's Raid to kill Riven, the Taken Kalli acted as the first line of defence to the Keep of Voices. Despite her power and Taken forces, the Guardians were able to free Kalli of her corruption, allowing her and Shuro Chi to cleanse Riven's heart.

Two years after being freed of her corruption, Kalli worked with Petra as an "Elder" to raise a new generation of Techeuns. She particularly helped implant the augmentations for the new Techeuns, telling Sjari during her operation that Petra believed they hadn't the time to train them previously.

• Kalli sought the position of Coven Mother.
• In "The Coven" Grimoire card, Kalli's name is spelled with two Ls while in "Telesto" it is spelled with one.
• Kalli could be a reference to Kali, a Hindu goddess of time, creation, destruction, and power.
