- — Ikora Rey
Invective is an Exotic Shotgun introduced in Destiny. It can be obtained by completing all the stages of the Exotic weapon bounty A Dubious Task. A Year Two version of Invective became available in The Taken King that can sometimes be obtained from Xûr, Agent of the Nine, alongside two ornaments.

"I tried to talk them down. They made a grab for my Ghost. After that it was a short conversation." —Ikora Rey
Invective was Ikora Rey's weapon of choice during her younger, more rebellious days. An ideal fallback for situations that can't be solved by wit, quick talk, or pure intimidation, this modified shotgun uses a self-replicating magazine to keep its owner well-stocked for any and all trouble that waits beyond the City.
Gameplay
This is arguably the first shotgun to implement the trait of a full-automatic trigger system in the game. All other shotguns with the same feature such as The Fourth Horseman and Legendary-tier weapons with the randomly generated trait "Full Auto Trigger System" most likely have said trait descended from Invective. The gun regenerates ammunition at a rate of about 6 shells every 30 seconds. The trait of replenishing ammunition over time is an ability shared with another Year 1 Exotic weapon.
