— Xivu Arath.

The Leviathan-Eater, Bane of the Ammonites (formerly known as Ir Uulxal) was a Knight and was the most powerful champion of the Hive God Xivu Arath in her brood. Known for killing the Leviathan that once graced the Ammonites, he would later be tasked with stealing the tithes to Eris Morn and to kill the Guardian in the process. However he would fail and would finally be put to rest.

Biography

Once known as the Knight Ir Uulxal, the Knight was present during the Hive's war against the Ammonites, which climaxed in a final confrontation to escape Fundament's atmosphere. As the Ammonites' champion Chroma-Admiral Rafriit was cast down by a million sacrificed Hive and subsequently torn to pieces, Xivu Arath commands Ir Uulxal to slaughter the now exposed Leviathan. He would succeed in killing it and devour its flesh; spilling its massive viscera to the Ammonites below. He would be commended by the God of War herself and be renamed to the Leviathan-Eater, earning the title of Bane of the Ammonites.[1]

Recently, Xivu Arath would actively besiege her sister's throne world, attempting to steal the bounty of tithes Savathûn had hoarded in secret for centuries in her oubliette. She would also size up the Guardians tithed towards Eris Morn, whom had recently evolved into the Hive God of Vengeance, and calls upon the Leviathan-Eater to interrupt their tithes and to test their strength against his as a challenge worthy of proving. After a major skirmish, the Leviathan-Eater retreated from the oubliette to prepare for their true confrontation yet to come.[2]

Upon the final tithe to Eris Morn, Xivu Arath would call forth the Leviathan-Eater within the Altar of the Sword to combat them once again. Calling forth hordes of Hive along with a bombardment from Tomb Ships, he would eventually fall at the Guardian's hands and his death would be tithed to Eris Morn before her final tithe. [3]

Gameplay

Mission: Conjure

The Leviathan-Eater acts as the final boss of Mission: Conjure. He will first summon two Revenant Knights wielding Cleavers and Hive Shields, two Blistered Knights wielding Cleavers and a Warmonger Knight. He will teleport into the arena right on top of the Warmonger Knight, killing it in the process.

The Leviathan-Eater will appear with its Cleaver embedded into the ground and will stand up along with its summoned Knights and attack the player. He fights similarly to Zulmak and will stay at a distance while firing Fire Blasts as his Revenant and Blistered Knights fight for close combat. He will occasionally unleash a Sunspot on the ground, forcing the player to be on the move. It fought up close, he will slam his sword onto the ground, knocking the player away from his position.

Upon reaching five sixths of his health, he will summon in groups of Thrall along with more Revenant Knights. Upon reaching two thirds of his health, he will slam his sword into the ground akin to Zulmak activating his wipe mechanic and teleport away.

Mission: Sunder

The Leviathan-Eater returns at the end of Mission: Sunder as its final boss. He will appear from the large rift in the Altar of the Sword, flanked by numerous Acolytes and Boomer wielding Knights. He will attack similar to how he did in the Mission: Conjure and sticks to firing Solar blasts at the player from the distance as the Acolytes converge towards the players position.

He will become health gated by the time he reaches five sixth of his health in which the players are required to find and deposits Solar crystals near Eris to break the Leviathan-Eater's immunity shield.

Once he gets to half health, he will summon in a Tomb Ship bombardment in which the player is required to summon in a shield around themselves and Eris in order to survive the bombardment. As they are doing this, the Leviathan-Eater will summon in several Thrall and Cleaver wielding Knights to enter into the shield and kill the player.

After a while, he will charge into the dome and strike his blade into the ground, breaking the shield, which allows the player to damage him once again. In this final phase, the Leviathan-Eater will continue to fight the player normally while summoning in reinforcements occasionally until he dies.
