Overlords are massive Vex Hydras of the Sol Divisive. They were seen as optional final bosses of Vex Invasion World Events after losing subordinate Gate Lords. They coordinate these Invasions and only appear once a large enough threat is detected. Once killed, they drop powerful, Vex-themed gear.[1]

Spawning

The steps needed to spawn an Overlord are unclear. But, there are theories. The general consensus is that killing the Angelics that spawn with the Gate Lords will increase the chance of the Overlord spawning at the end of the activity. There are two waves of Angelics that spawn with the Gate Lord. The first should spawn when the Gate Lord is at full health. The second wave will spawn when the Gate Lord is at a third of its heath. This is repeated three times. In theory, this should make an Overlord spawn.
