The Proximate Mind is a Vex Mind with the form of a giant Sol Collective Minotaur. It was imprisoned by Savathûn, the Witch Queen within a arcane oubliette alongside the Prevenient Mind, Prevailing Mind and several other units. It is called forth and slain as tribute in Mission: Invoke, as well as in Altars of Summoning.

Gameplay[edit]

The Ternary Minds are one of the possible encounters in Altars of Summoning. The Proximate Mind can rise first, and start attacking the player with its Vex Laser Rifle, Temporal Shockwave stomp, and summoning reinforcements, which will vary in number and strength depending on the power of the offering deposited. During the battle, the Mind will continuously manifest a small Conflux at which some Precursor Axis Hobgoblins will try to sacrifice. If enough manage to sacrifice, this will create a Vex Lens construct that will render the Mind immune to damage. Up to three lenses can be constructed before Confluxes stop appearing. After the first Mind is slain, a second Mind will rise and continue the same tactic, and the last Mind will enter combat once the second reaches half health.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Ternary Minds are reminiscent of the Sol Progeny, and may have been a study from Savathûn about its nature.
  • The definition of "proximate" is approximately something that is about to take place.
