Season of Sorrow is the succeeding season to Season of the Hunt and thirteenth season of Destiny 2. Following the events of the Wrathborn Hunts, the Hive warlord Shin'ra, the Sorrow-Maker, has begun to marshal an army to destroy the Last City. With help from the Drifter, Eris Morn and the mysterious Shin Malphur, you must create your own arsenal of the Weapons of Sorrow and wield an ancient power to put an end to the Sorrow-Maker.

Description

Story: Become the ender of sorrows

"An eldritch Hive priest stalks the system, work alongside the Drifter, Eris and Shin Malphur, explore the new location of the Nephilim and defeat the Herald of Corruption along with his corrupted Horde."

New Element: Embrace the Corruption

Activities: Hunt down the Sorrow Court

"Hunt down the Sorrow-Maker's court members who have seeded strongholds throughout the system in the new Sorrow Hunts."

"Members of the court have returned, now you must venture deep into the Pit of Decay and end them once and for all."

Plot

After the Guardian slew the High Celebrant of Xivu Arath, the Hidden Swarm began to resurge under the command of Shin'ra, a powerful Hive warlord, who began to seed a new element known as Corruption across the European Dead Zone, Tangled Shore, and the Moon from aboard his warship, the Nephilim. Drifter, along with Eris Morn, would call the Guardian wield this new element and craft new armor and Weapons of Sorrow to fight back against the hordes of Shin'ra and put an end to the rising Hive King.

Wielding the new element, the Guardians would use Corruption against Hive and Taken users of the Dark power, putting an end to the members of the Sorrow Court and seemingly putting an end to Shin'ra. Their efforts would be in vein however as one of the members of the Court of Sorrow by the name of Zâtrox would continue the work of the Sorrow Court by endlessly resurrecting their dead legions of Hive to accomplish it. Though Shin'ra had been defeated, he would declare his return to the system and that of the Sorrow Court's resurgence.
