Niruul, the Hollow Voice was a Psion Flayer for the Red Legion seen hidden within Mercury's future. A co-leader along with her Psion Sisters, she represented Void energy and was the third-born in her family. She served as the first boss among the rotating bosses of The Sundial.

Biography[edit]

Seeking a simulated future free of the Cabal in the Infinite Forest, Niruul and her sisters first discovered the hidden Sundial under the veil of a stealth skin. With an opportunity presenting itself, Niruul tossed the idea of a premeditated attack on the Last City in the future which their enemies will not see coming; against her sister Tazaroc's idea to rewrite the past. Instead, their eldest Ozletc suggested using the Sundial to both whichever is the most advantageous. For hours and days and weeks, the sisters labored over the machine. While her sisters defended her from the Vex, Niruul bent the device to their purposes and made it whir to life with the force of their combined will. Windows into other worlds, Mercury's true past and future, opened before them. The device stood at the center of all of it, an anchor point. And all along the fault lines of time, where the past and present and future met, Vex were ripped in half, sliced through by a knife of pure temporal energy. With the Red Legion at their command, the Psion sisters fractured Mercury's history into a past, present, and future open to their manipulation.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

Niruul serves as the first boss among the rotating bosses of The Sundial activity.

Niruul will appear from her rift once the console is activated. She will be open to damage for most of the fight but will use her Cabal Bronto Cannon and guards to protect her from her assailants. She can also melee a target with an additional knock-back ability to counter any melee-based attacker. Most notable of these defenses, however, is her Detain ability, where she will cast this attack once she gathers enough Psionic power. These Detain bubbles will trap all Guardians in the arena either individually or trap a clustered group. If the bubble isn't destroyed, anyone stuck in these bubbles will be instantly killed in a flash of Void energy. To break free of these bubbles, players have to shoot the rotating, white spots which will tear open the prisons. Once a third of her health is lost, she will call for Psion Commanders to shield her from oncoming attacks as well as call for more resilient backup. To remove the shield, players must similarly kill the Commanders as a Councilor. Once all Commanders are killed, Niruul will be open to damage once again.
