The Dread^[1] are an army of Darkness-powered entities created by the Witness with its paracausal Pyramid technology.

History

Structure

The Dread are comprised of beings reshaped by the latter into their "perfected" form, with its Disciples serving as a genetic blueprint for some of the Dread units to have descended from their lineage and remnants of other subjugated species transfigured into its army using stolen Light from the Traveler.^{[citation needed]}

Attendant — Psion units that send out a wave of Stasis energy and inflict slow on targets caught in the wave's path.
Weaver — Psion units that send out a wave of Strand energy to pull its target towards it.
Grim — A highly mobile flying enemy that slows and suppresses a Guardian's abilities if they get too close.

Husk — An acrobatic melee bruiser that sends a deployable geist enemy toward their foes unless slain by damage to their weak spot.

Subjugator — Units that support their allies with Pyramid drones similar to the Stormcaller's Arc Soul and cast a variety of Stasis or Strand attacks with their spears.
- Harbinger – Strand-wielding Subjugators.
- Omen — Stasis-wielding Subjugators.
Tormentor — Powerhouse units that can cast Void attacks with their scythes, and grabs their target to perform the Dark Harvest move.

The Dread are the first faction to have flying units with wings (Grim), and to have units that use Strand abilities (Weavers and Harbingers).
