The Dread[1] are an enemy faction created by the Witness, first seen with the Tormentors during the events of Lightfall. They are composed of beings reshaped by the latter into its "perfected" form, with its Disciples serving as a genetic blueprint for other Dread creations to have descended from their lineage and remnants of other conquered species transfigured into its own army using stolen Light from The Traveler.
