===Defending the Final Shape===
Following the destruction of the Black Heart, the Sol Divisive would find themselves carrying out the orders of the Witness at the the Divide within the Pale Heart, alongside the Taken and Dread. When the Traveler created a pool of Light at the Impasse, the Unwaking Mind would obscure its signal to prevent its discovery by the Vanguard. However, their occupation of the summit would be threatened by the Guardian, who would destroy dozens of Vex frames to traverse further up the mountain. The Guardian then delves into the mountain and destroys the Unwaking Mind, forcing the Sol Divisive to retreat.
Later the Sol Divisive would attempt to prevent a six Guardian fireteam from gaining access to the Monolith. The fireteam would destroy Keepers of the Monolith to open the doors into other rooms and defeat the Devotees of the Witness to summon Threshold Sentinels. Ultimately the Sol Divisive fail to stop the Guardians' attempts as they bounce the charges between the plates to traverse further up the Monolith and uproot the Witness's grasp over the Traveler.
When the Coalition and Lucent Brood launched a strike against the Witness, the Sol Divisive alongside the Taken, Dread, and Shadow Legion would come to its aid. They would quickly engage with a twelve Guardian fireteam, who would slay the Cornerstones of the Witness to lower the barrier to enter onto the other side of the wall. Despite the Sol Divisive's attempts to assist their master, the Guardians would successfully unmake the Witness by destroying the statues of the Dissenters and channeling the Traveler's Light through their Ghosts.

The Sol Divisive is a Vex collective located in the Black Garden that are the faithful protectors and worshipers of the Black Heart residing within it.[2]
Overview
While the majority of the Vex do not align themselves with either the Light or Darkness, the Sol Divisive have diverged from the rest of the Vex Collective by adopting a seemingly religious reverence for the Darkness and allying themselves with the Witness.[3][4]
The Sol Divisive are easily identified by their green, moss-covered frames and ring-like attachments on their heads. The moss on their bodies shows that they have been in stasis for an extended period of time, apparently frozen in what appears to be religious rapture.[2] Certain Minds like Persys, the Sanctified Mind and two major Harpies have layers of rock covering their chassis and large blue and orange tentacles sprouting from their backs.
The Sol Divisive has been stated to fight other collectives when their interests conflict regularly.[5] However, the Sol Divisive has regularly shown to set aside its allegiance differences to work with the other collectives towards a common goal if it benefits them all, such as the protection of the Undying Mind and the protection of the Black Heart.[6][7]
History
Origins
The origins of the Sol Divisive are unclear. A Vex record originating from the Black Garden seems to indicate that at some point the Vex in the Black Garden encountered the Witness, after which the term "Black Heart" appears. After this event, the Vex seemed to adopt an approach more in line with the philosophy of the Witness, suggesting that this record may recount the origin of the Sol Divisive and the Black Heart.[8]
According to the Cloud Strider Rohan, who once infiltrated the Black Garden, the Conceptual Mind used a "seed" left by the Witness to create the Black Heart in an unsuccessful attempt to simulate the Veil.[9] While the Black Heart would be paracausally connected with the Traveler, it created cosmic static within the universal flow of Darkness and Light that ultimately weakened its counterpart.[10] Despite its flawed design, the Sol Divisive would exhibit religious reverence toward the Heart; a behavior which Ikora Rey hypothesized was the only rational response the Vex could take when faced with a paracausal entity they could not properly simulate.[11]
City Age
A lone Guardian managed to enter the Black Garden, where they fought the Sol Divisive and encountered the Sol Progeny, a trio of Vex Mind Minotaurs imbued with power by the Black Heart. After a lengthy battle, the Progeny were destroyed, leading to the Heart's destruction.[7]
Months later, the Undying Mind awoke and attempted to seal the Black Garden from the outside world and resurrect the Black Heart. The Guardians managed to destroy the Mind, but true to its name, it returned from death shortly afterwards, forcing them to fight it repeatedly for years.[6] This cycle was finally broken when the Red Legion destroyed the gate to the Black Garden in Meridian Bay, sealing the Garden and unintentionally fulfilling the Undying Mind's objective.
A second gate into the Black Garden was later discovered on the Moon, allowing the Guardians to invade the Garden and face the Sol Divisive once more. As of this time, the Garden had become home to the Consecrated Mind and Sanctified Mind, a pair of powerful Vex Axis Minds that seemed to have been altered by an unknown force.[12]
As a result of the Guardians' intrusion into the Black Garden, the Sol Divisive began to invade the Moon.[13] Led by a resurrected Undying Mind which had duplicated itself across hundreds of thousands of realities,[14] the Divisive faced off against repeated counter-invasions by the Guardians into the Black Garden to slow the Vex's assault. Ultimately, the Undying Mind and its copies were destroyed for good, preventing the Black Heart from being resurrected, and the attacks on Luna were stopped.[13] Some small pockets of Sol Divisive Vex remained on Luna, however.
Two years after their Luna invasion, the Sol Divisive would launch an assault on the Ares Spire on Mars, seeking to take information from Rasputin in support of the Witness' objectives, as well as to use the facility to imprison the Subminds. The Guardian battled with them at the behest of the Lightless Osiris, foiling their plans to scavenge information and destroy the facility itself.[15]
Months later, during the Guardian's incursion into the Black Garden to retrieve and finish the data, they would attempt to destroy the Conceptual Mind, the Mind responsible for the Black Heart's creation. The Taken, sent on behalf of the Witness, would suddenly start invading the Garden as they fought and attacked the Vex stationed there, ultimately leading to the Mind's destruction.[10]
Invading the Dreaming City
After Xivu Arath loses her connection to her throne world and the Guardian discovers a solution to bypass the portal inside the Traveler, the Witness sends the Sol Divisive to invade the Dreaming City as it continues its pursuit of the Final Shape. The Guardian would destroy the Sol Divisive that invaded the Keep of Voices and were gathered around Riven's remains, allowing the Techeuns to awaken her spirit.[16] Later, the Sol Divisive would send in a Hydra that serves as a spy for the Witness once the Guardian arrives to recover the first of Riven's clutch. The Guardian would destroy the Aspirational Construct at Mara's command, but as they recover more of Riven's clutch, the Sol Divisive would respond by deploying Oracles from the Vault of Glass into Riven's lair.[17] The Oracles deployed by the Sol Divisive were attempting to mimic resonance, an aspect of Darkness predominantly used by the Witness and its Disciples.[18] They would create a Vex Mind with the ability to simulate the Techeuns, allowing them to go one step ahead of the Guardian.[19] After the Guardian defeats the Deceptor Mind, the Sol Divisive would steal one of Riven's eggs and slow down the Guardian by sending in the Centroidal Mind and placing the egg in the Black Garden near Taranis's remains. The Guardian defeats the Centroidal Mind and pursues the Vex into the Black Garden with assistance from Crow and the magics of the Ahamkara. The Guardian finally defeats the Vex Mind responsible for the theft and the ability to simulate the Techeuns, Akardon, Pitiless Mind.[18][20] Riven reveals that although the Sol Divisive are no longer able to simulate the Techeuns, they still have a presence within her lair.[21] As they continue their invasion of the Dreaming City, they would place the Oracles around the Confluence, where its heart contains the last egg the Guardian needs to recover. The Guardian destroys the Oracles used by the Sol Divisive to reactivate the Oracle Engine.[22]
Eventually, the Guardian successfully retrieved the rest of Riven's eggs. Riven held up her end of the bargain and opened a portal into the Pale Heart. Crow would venture through the portal and was on his way to his final destination.[23] However, as everyone waited for Crow to arrive, the Sol Divisive received new orders from the Witness. With its guidance, they were able to create a second Black Heart that they would use to disrupt and weaken the Veil in a final attempt to stop the Coalition from following The Witness. However, Osiris caught on to this and tasked the Guardian with another infiltration into the Black Garden.[24] After fighting through many of the Sol Divisive's defenses, including the Withdrawn Mind, the Guardian reached the same spot where they destroyed the original Black Heart. History repeated itself as the Guardian annihilated the Vex forces worshipping the Black Heart, as well as the three vessel Minotaurs of the Temporal Progeny summoned to defend the heart. Eventually, the remade Black Heart would be destroyed with the last of the summoned Minds, ending the Sol Divisive's attempts to prevent anyone from following the Witness into the Pale Heart.[25]
Defending the Final Shape
Following the destruction of the Black Heart, the Sol Divisive would find themselves carrying out the orders of the Witness at the the Divide within the Pale Heart, alongside the Taken and Dread. When the Traveler created a pool of Light at the Impasse, the Unwaking Mind would obscure its signal to prevent its discovery by the Vanguard. However, their occupation of the summit would be threatened by the Guardian, who would destroy dozens of Vex frames to traverse further up the mountain. Defeating the Resonant Warders, the Guardian would reveal the correct Glyphs and nullify them to dispel the Vex illusion blocking the way forward. The Guardian then delves into the mountain and destroys the Unwaking Mind, forcing the Sol Divisive to retreat.[26]
Later the Sol Divisive would attempt to prevent a six Guardian fireteam from gaining access to the Monolith. The fireteam would destroy Keepers of the Monolith to open the doors into other rooms and defeat the Devotees of the Witness to summon Threshold Sentinels. Ultimately the Sol Divisive fail to stop the Guardians' attempts as they bounce the charges between the plates to traverse further up the Monolith and uproot the Witness's grasp over the Traveler.[27]
Despite the Sol Divisive's attempts to assist their master, the Guardians would successfully unmake the Witness by destroying the statues of the Dissenters and channeling the Traveler's Light through their Ghosts.[28]
