Closer to the Heart is the final mission of Season of the Wish, accessed through the Veiled Threats quest.

Objectives[edit]

Find the Heart

Search the Black Garden for its heart.

Destroy Vex Gateways
- Gateways destroyed: X of 6

Stop the Vex from pouring into the Black Garden by taking out their gateways.

Defeat the Remaining Vex

Clear out the last Vex from the Black Garden.

Explore the Garden

Move deeper into the Black Garden.

Defeat the Withdrawn Mind

Take down the Withdrawn Mind to clear your way forward.

Annihilate the Vex

Defeat the Vex worshipping the dark heart of the Black Garden.

Defeat the Temporal Progeny

Defeat the giant Vex who guard the heart of the Black Garden.

{Mission Begins}

The Guardian lands in the Roost.

Osiris: The errant signal is not far ahead.

Osiris: Keep your wits about you. Whatever it is, the Sol Divisive are using to entangle themselves in our work…

Osiris: It is a power not to be trifled with.

Beginning their search for this disturbance, the Guardian defeats Vex units being summoned from Vex gates. They traverse across further into the Garden—now corrupted with blights, defeating hordes of Taken, and eventually arriving at the Overland.

Swarms of Vex then begin to come fourth from six different gates. Upon destroying the gates and the remaining Vex units, the Guardian steps into a Vex gateway that takes them to the Gateway Crossroads.

Darkness Zone. Respawning Restricted.

Vex forces led by the Withdrawn Mind emerge to confront the Guardian. After defeating those Vex units, the Guardian destroys two nodes to destroy the shield blocking the way. Arriving at the Garden's Heart, the Guardian horrifyingly discovers the resurgent Black Heart, with the Vex kneeling before their deity.

Osiris: Impossible…

Osiris: The Black Heart. Destroy this abomination!

The Guardian defeats the Vex, causing the Black Heart to respond by summoning fourth it’s vessels the Temporal Progeny: consisting of the Established, Inevitable, and Synchronal Minds. Despite the powers of these Minotaurs and the overwhelming number of Vex units, the Guardian succeeds in destroying the Temporal Progeny, resulting in the Black Heart's destruction once again.

Osiris: The Black Heart was a failed copy of the Veil. Imperfect, but potent nonetheless. This was a simulation of their prior effort.

Osiris: The Sol Divisive must have been using it to bond their collective with the Darkness.

Osiris: They broadcast that connection, harmonized its frequency with the Veil, in order to take its place and shut us out.

Osiris: They could not have managed this feat without guidance from the Witness. And now, you have seen to it that they will not disrupt us again.

{Cutscene Begins}

Crow passes through the Traveler's portal, being ejected into the Pale Heart. Surveying his surroundings, he focuses on a large monolith in the horizon.

While distracted, a bullet ricochets nearby. Crow quickly rolls and takes cover, pulling out his Hawkmoon. Crow spots the figure responsible and engages the firefight. Overwhelmed, Crow ducks behind cover once more. While he reloads, his assailant lands a tripwire nearby. He jumps out of cover just in time as the tripwire detonates.

Out in the open, Crow takes aim at his combatant, stunned to see Cayde-6 running towards him. While in shock, Cayde throws a knife to disarm him. Crow leaps to grab his gun as Cayde catches up to him with his Ace of Spades ready. Before Cayde can pull the trigger, Glint materializes in front of Crow—realizing that Uldren is now a lightbearer.

Crow: You died.

Cayde-6: So did you.

Both Hunters lower thier Hand Cannons. A beat later, a large wave of Light pulses from the monilith with a high-pitched screech. Cayde offer his hand; helping Crow to his feet.

Cayde-6: I don't have to call you "Prince" anymore, do I?

Another pulse of Light emits from the monilith.
