Valence
From Destinypedia, the Destiny wiki

For more information, see the citation policy.
The Valence is a massive aurora of Light and Darkness that is venting from the Traveler into space above Earth after the Witness' defeat in the Pale Heart.
Overview[edit]
After the defeat of The Witness, an aurora of Light and Darkness began pouring out from The Traveler over Earth, with the Coalition designating a no-fly zone within 100 kilometers to ensure no incidents occur. Sometime following the Valence's creation, three Echoes of the Witness' memories and power were launched from the Traveler, with one of them falling under the possession of Maya Sundaresh, a second falling under the possession of Fikrul and a third landing on the Dreadnaught.
While the Vanguard was handling the situation with the final Echo, the Valence began to grow dim. Ikora Rey suspected no more Echoes would come from it as a result.[1]

Trivia[edit]
- The term "valence" generally refers to the potential for something to combine with something else; for example, the electrons which allow atoms of a given element to form chemical bonds are known as "valence electrons". In this context, the term may refer to the Valence's nature as a phenomenon made of combined Light and Darkness.
