Transcript[edit]

(Mission Loads)

  • Ikora Rey: Eris Morn has requested immediate Vanguard assistance for a strike on the Moon. She's been recording unusual seismic activity, Nightmares appearances have spiked, and the Hive is in a frenzy. We need to deal with the threat before it escalates.

(Mission Begins)

The Guardians deploy at Sorrow's Harbor. A Tamed Nightmare appears and blocks access to the Scarlet Keep. Hive Tombships deploy Hive reinforcements.

The Scarlet Keep has begun to radiate dark magic again. The Hive will do anything to keep us away from their fortress but we need to push through them.

or

A dark abomination of Hashladûn's madness stands between you and their ritual in the Scarlet Keep. Eradicate it.

The Guardiands bring the Ogre to half of its life. The Ogre becomes immune and disappears, freeing the access to the Scarlet Keep.

The wizards called their ogre back to them. Be careful of their traps Guardian.

or

The Hive retreats, the entrance is clear. We advance towards the Keep, Eris.

The Guardians continue until they reach the missing bridge.

They have hidden the bridge again! You know what to do Guardian.

or

The wizards who hold the bridge in the Ascending Plane are nearby, break their magic.

The Guardians defeat the wizards on the two towers on either side of the bridge and deposit their essences to restore the bridge.

Multiple Tombships incoming! The Hive wants to prevent us from passing at all costs, prepare to fight

or

Hashladûn is cornered but you need to stay alert Guardian... her Ogre is not dead yet.

The Tamed Nightmare reappears at the end of the bridge along with several wizards and an immunity shield. Hive Tombships deploy Hive reinforcements. The Guardiands defeat the wizards and break the Nightmare shield of the ogre. The Guardians survive the Hive waves and defeat the Nightmare Ogre.

An Ogre infused to the brim with Nightmares energy... or a tamed Nightmare? Is Hashladûn blinded by fury or is she that ambitious?

or

Wizards who act as vessels for Nightmares essences, becoming the bond that controlled that Ogre. Is it just the madness of the Hidden Swarm or is it the result of a more complex plan?

The Guardians continue into the Scarlet Keep until a sealed ritual chamber.

The Hive has sealed the door. We need to dispell their magic through their altars... but obviously they won't let us do it.

or

The magic of the Hidden Swarm have become more refined, more subtle... their skills are not their own making.

The Guardians climb onto the three platforms. Waves of Hive led by ogres appear.

The Guardians repel the enemies and take control of the platforms, breaking the seals.

The tower of the Keep is emanating an oppressive Darkness, and it keeps increasing. Hurry Guardian, before they manage to finish the ritual!

or

I can sense it Guardian. Hashladûn's hatred driving her. We must prevent the daughter of Crota from establishing a connection with the Pyramid at all costs.

The Guardians proceed to the base of the tower where they find the elevator blocked.

The Guardians find and defeat a wizard who releases an essence. Upon depositing it, the elevator begins to rise.

On the way up the Hive attack the Guardians until the elevator gets stuck.

The Guardians find and defeat the wizard and deposit the essence, causing the climb to resume.

Repeat.

Repeat.

The Guardians reach the top of the tower where Hashladûn awaits them.

Nightmare energies are gathering above you. A burning anticipation. Hashladûn yearns for your arrival.

or

The entire tower is resonating with Nightmare energy... the deafening screams of Hashladûn are almost drowned out. Let's silence her Guardian!

The Guardians clear the arena and Hashladûn attacks them.

The Guardians bring the wizard to a third of her life and she gains an immune shield. Hive reinforcements appear in the arena led by three wizards in waves.

Those wizards are protecting her!

or

The ritualists of Hashladûn are giving their essence for her!

Repeat.

The Guardians clear the arena, defeat the three wizards and break Hashladûn shield

The Guardians defeat Hashladûn.

  • Ghost: Eris. It's over. Hashladûn is defeated once again.
  • Eris Morn: The dark energy radiated from the Scarlet Keep has subsided, Hashladûn once again dissolves like dust... but her soul is now linked to the Nightmares... and to the Pyramid. Like a curse she will continue to return through, her hatred for you will ony grow. But so will our Light.

or

  • Eris Morn: What she was trying to do here... tamed Nightmares, wizards imitating her twisted condition, attempting to commune with the Pyramid. None of this must ever happen. But these rituals are madness even for the progeny of Crota, fallen so far from the Sword Logic. I wonder what dark designs are really at work here. For now we can only continue to dispel them before they take shape.

(Mission Ends)

  • Eris Morn: Potent energies are radiating from the Scarlet Keep and its grand tower. Power as I've never felt. Foul rituals are doubtlessly underway inside... and, if we're fortunate, the Hive magic we need to create more armor.
  • Ghost: I thought the Hive preferred their strongholds underground. Why build a tower?
  • Eris Morn: It was thought to be ceremonial in nature. The Vanguard mentioned its construction but had "more pressing concerns". Fools. The energy spilling from the tower suggests another purpose: I believe it amplifies Hive magic. This may be where the Hive achieve their immunity to the Pyramid's influences.
  • Ghost: Wait, it that—? Eris, we've got eyes on a Daughter of Crota.
  • Eris Morn: It's Hashladûn. It must be. Only she could be responsible for the Keep's emanations. She was presumed dead after Crota's fall. If she's alive... if she's here... the Hive's designs are dark indeed. Whatever rituals are underway in the tower must be stopped. And Hashladûn must be eliminated.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Strike is recurring because Hashladûn, despite failing in her ritual, managed to connect to the Pyramid and has now become partly Nightmare like Zulmak, allowing her to be resurrected through the sacrifice of lesser Nightmares in the Altars of Sorrow.
