Blistered Ogres are a more powerful, Major variant of the Hive Ogre. They were first introduced in The Witch Queen expansion as part of the Lucent Brood, featuring in Legendary Campaign Missions, as well as the PsiOps Battlegrounds activity. In Season of Plunder, the Major Hidden Swarm Ogres found in the A Mysterious Disturbance Mission, as well as the Necropolis encounter of the Pit of Heresy Dungeon, were renamed to Blistered Ogres. Blistered Ogres of Xivu Arath's Horde would first appear in Heist Battleground: Mars.

A massive Wrathborn Blistered Ogre with a design similar to the Hive Wrathborn can appear in the Altars of Summoning as part of a Ritual Anomaly or alongside the Talons of Xivu Arath when they are summoned with a Powerful Offering. This Ogre is capable of throwing Solar Mortars and creates a burning Solar field when stomping the ground, has a Major health bar instead of an Ultra's, but with no faction symbol, and is immune to Finishers due to its size.
