The Echo of Obsession is an artifact released from the Traveler following the destruction of the Witness. Like the other Echoes, it is believed to be a memory or psychic imprint of a species that was conquered and destroyed by the Witness and its Black Fleet, preserved in the Darkness and made manifest through the Light. In the case of the Echo of Obsession, it was created from the manifold memories of the old kings and queens of the Sarupal species. It would be discovered by their vanquisher, Ir Dralcha, the Crownless Queen, and would be used to empower her brood and raise them to ascendancy. Although Ir Dralcha and the echo would be destroyed, the two shards would be claimed instead by Ir Vicsza and the Dread, The Coronated.

Description

The Echo appears to be an eight-pronged crown, the foremost pair taller than the others with its base forming an intricate, woven pattern. In the possession of Ir Dralcha, it was seared into her chitin and its woven base forming an additional pair of translucent horns for the exiled goddess. Upon it's shattering, however, one piece would be formed into a necklace for the iconoclastic warpriestess, Ir Vicsza, and the other would be kitbashed into a pyramidal crown for the Eidolon Dread, The Coronated.

The Echo possessed a drive to create and adapt, as it was mainly formed from the Sarupal's ambition to grow as a species and their desire to become something more from their seemingly banal and short existence, particularly among the monarchs who were in closer proximity to the Black Fleet artifact they had. The bearer felt every ambition, every desire and every bit of frustration and despair of the monarchs' obsession for perfection, in addition to the final kings' fury and anger in his species' final days. Although Ir Dralcha was able to handle the overwhelming compulsion of the Echo, its new possessors would become consumed by the Echo's power, with Ir Vicsza further delving into depravity and the Coronated mindlessly seeking to finish what it's template species started.

Bearing the memory of every Sarupali monarch, their accomplishments and achievements, on top of harboring a facsimile of the Witness' power, the Echo gave its user the ability to find an answer and give them the power to achieve their wants and needs over a period of time, depending on the ambition of the user's wants. When Ir Dralcha wanted to enhance her forces, for example, she immediately knew where to find the equipment and knowledge to turn some of her followers into the Dread Zephyr and Haruspex.
