Meeting Amanda
Like the other members of the House of Light, Niik alongside her sister, Itzelas would take refuge in the Last City to assist the Vanguard in dispelling the Endless Night. She would begin to work in the Hanger, serving as Amanda Holliday's new assistant. When Niik was working on a half-finished Sparrow, Amanda would state she did not know why she was surprised by Niik's talents and revealed she always wondered how the Eliksni can build so quickly. Niik would wink her eyes at Amanda’s before returning to welding and explains that the Eliksni possess better and quicker eye vision than humans while also remarking that their vision was not as strong as it was after the Whirlwind.
When Amanda asked for clarification, Niik would reveal that the Eliksni identically to humanity also lost their Golden Age. To change the tone of the conversation, Amanda would ask Niik if she had ever ridden a Sparrow to which the Eliksni revealed she had not. Niik would tell Amanda that her Sparrow that she was constructing was too small and that Pikes were stronger. Amanda would laugh as she stated that no Pike was faster than her personal Sparrow, causing Niik to become thrilled. Clambering onto one knee, Niik would help Amanda to her feet before agreeing to a race.[1]
Immortalized Bond
Shortly after finishing a machine, Amanda lifts up her mask and complements Niik for her work. Niik would reply to Amanda that repair was life and that if you treat a machine like family, it will return the favor. Looking at Amanda's welding mask, Niik would ask her why she chooses to wear it. Laughing at the question, Amanda would reveal that it is due to not having eye augmentations. Niik would nod before asking Amanda about her prosthetic leg, to which she reveals it is a replacement for a limb she had lost as she cannot regrow it unlike the Eliksni or Guardians. Stopping in her tracks, Niik would mention that she sometimes forgot that Amanda herself was not a Guardian. As Amanda places her hand at Niik's arm, Amanda assures her that she makes the most of what she has. Understanding the shortness of Human lifespans, Niik would mistaken Rasputin for a Servitor and ask her if he would carry her memory. Chuckling at Niik's failed attempts at pronouncing his name, Amanda would tell Niik that she was a sweet and weird individual before revealing to the Vandal that Rasputin was not a Servitor. Niik would complement Amanda for the same features and assure her that she would tell her Servitor these details so Amanda could be remembered forever. As Amanda found humor at the way she would be remembered, Niik would laugh alongside her despite not being certain if it was a joke.[2]
Preserved Memory
Disastrously, a tragedy that would shake the Last City to its core would occur as Amanda Holliday would perish after heroically sacrificing her own life to save civilians captured by the Shadow Legion. After making final adjustment to her Sparrow, Niik would hit the ignition, resulting in the engine burning out as just like the hundreds of other Sparrows before it. Overwhelmed by frustration, Niik would curse in Eliksni and hurl her spanned across the floor before burying her face as she collapses onto the ground crying. Suddenly, Niik hears Amanda's voice speaking about her struggle to fix the Sparrow looks up to see her Servitor projecting a holo-recording of her and Amanda as her deceased friend imparts a lesson about its functions. Smiling as she remembers this lesson thanks to Amanda's legacy, Niik wipes away her tears and returns to work.
Later she met with Ana Bray for a new project repurposing a Pyramid Scale. At the recommendation of Empress Caiatl, Zahn'ra joined them. As she landed in the Hangar, Ana questioned how much they knew about her, and Niik shared that all she knew was that she had "questionable family heritage", with Ana suspecting she was descended from Bracus Zahn. Niik's reply was interrupted by Zahn'ra kicking the Pyramid Scale down the ramp of her Thresher. Carrying it over to them, she asked if Niik and Ana were the engineers, and Ana introduced themselves. Zahn'ra complemented Archie, refering to him as a cat, which Niik corrected, but glanced at Ana for visual confirmation. For the new design of the Scale, Niik gathered her Servitor and shared a Sparrow design she believed Amanda would have liked. Together they built Unified Theory.[3]
