Plot

Rising is a prequel to the original Destiny. According to one report, the game takes place during the time of the Warlords,[1] placing Rising during the Dark Age and/or City Age.

In/around 2024, Bungie's involvement with Rising was limited to narrative and support, offering visual assets such as character models and assets. Only around 5 Bungie staff were working on Rising in/around this year.[2] NetEase meanwhile focused on gameplay.[1]

The existence of Rising was first reported in 2022.[3] Job listings for a Destiny mobile game existed as far back as 2021.[4]
