The Dread[1] are an army of Darkness-powered entities created by the Witness with its paracausal Pyramid technology; first seen with the Tormentors during the events of Lightfall. They are composed of beings reshaped by the latter into their "perfected" form, with its Disciples serving as a genetic blueprint for other Dread creations to have descended from their lineage and remnants of other conquered species transfigured into its army using stolen Light from The Traveler.
