The Assault on the Scarlet Keep was the final battle between the remains of humanity and their allies, and Eris Morn's Dark army in the Dark Future timeline.

Prelude

Following the Bombardment, Eris Morn would establish the Scarlet Keep as her new base.[1] Mara Sov and her Awoken army would attempt several assaults on Eris, but all failed, resulting in some of the Awoken defecting to Eris's side. Eris would also trap the Vex in time.[2]

Calus would also abandon the Leviathan, with no one sure of his location after, and Mara would take control of it where she would slowly gather forces from the remaining Awoken loyal to her, the Eliksni and the Cabal to strike back at Eris and Savathûn.[2]

Sometime later, Elisabeth Bray would be found by her sister, Ana, who told her she wanted her to teach how to wield Stasis so she could take down Savathûn. Though unwilling to do so, Elsie would agree to help Ana rebuild Rasputin, if only to keep her safe.[3] The two would head to the Deep Stone Crypt on Europa to build Rasputin an Exo body,[4] before going to the ruins of the Last City to look for Ikora Rey. Instead, they found Zavala, who told them Ikora had been killed in the Bombardment.[5] Despite initially being unwilling to help them, he agreed to upon learning they had revived Rasputin, revealing that their true enemy was the one Savathûn served: Eris Morn, and that they would need more than the Warmind to defeat her.[6] So, the group headed to the wreck of the Almighty, where Zavala had made his home following the Bombardment. There, they used Rasputin to pull blueprints of the device Dominus Ghaul planned to use to capture the Traveler and harvest its Light. With it, they would be able to track the Traveler using a failsafe installed into Rasputin, capture it and force it to help them defeat Eris. However, they would need an army to build it and so turned to Mara Sov.[7] They would be able to get the help of Mara and her army to build the cage and capture the Traveler.[2]
