:I believe that any Taken with sufficient intelligence remaining can effectively assume control of the Taken, now that Oryx is gone. Why else would [[Malok, Pride of Oryx]] and [[Alak-Hul, the Darkblade]] pose such a significant threat to the Guardians? Though I believe only this is restricted to Taken [[Hive]] of sufficient age and power, otherwise one of those Zealots would be a threat also. The [[Cabal]] Taken would surely fit this role well, since they're the most organized militaries in the solar system. Regarding appearances, you don't actually need Taken King installed to encounter the Taken. They'll show up as long as you have update 2.0 installed. --73.219.160.192 14:09, 16 September 2015 (EDT)

This is completely true. I was playing a random patrol mission the yesterday and they showed up there.--Spartacus TalkContribs 14:14, 16 September 2015 (EDT)

The Extinction of the Taken

With Oryx, the Taken King slain in the King's Fall raid it's pretty obvious that the Taken are now completely extinct. Titan66 (talk) 19:08, 10 October 2015 (EDT)

I'd question this obviousness. Besides the more relevant fact that they keep appearing for people who have done King's Fall, Oryx is using the power of the Darkness to make the Taken. What's to stop the Darkness from continuing this in later expansions? -- SFH (talk) 19:45, 10 October 2015 (EDT)

I remember hearing Eris say in one of her idle conversations that taken linger, but I don't know the exact quote. OmgHAX! (talk) 20:15, 10 October 2015 (EDT)

You're correct. It's one of Eris's interchangeable quotes at one point during The Sunless Cell strike. I think she says it when you come to the long bridge that leads into the boss chamber, but I'm not sure. As already noted in this article's intro, the Taken decay, but (like the zombies in The Walking Dead) they linger forever until they're killed. MorningWalker (talk) 21:43, 10 October 2015 (EDT)
I believe that any Taken with sufficient intelligence remaining can effectively assume control of the Taken, now that Oryx is gone. Why else would Malok, Pride of Oryx and Alak-Hul, the Darkblade pose such a significant threat to the Guardians? Though I believe only this is restricted to Taken Hive of sufficient age and power, otherwise one of those Zealots would be a threat also. The Cabal Taken would surely fit this role well, since they're the most organized militaries in the solar system. Dante the Ghost (talk) 22:00, 9 May 2016 (EDT)
