Talk:Taken

From Destinypedia, the Destiny wiki

Regarding appearances, you don't actually need Taken King installed to encounter the Taken. They'll show up as long as you have update 2.0 installed. --73.219.160.192 14:09, 16 September 2015 (EDT)

This is completely true. I was playing a random patrol mission the yesterday and they showed up there.--Spartacus TalkContribs 14:14, 16 September 2015 (EDT)

The Extinction of the Taken[edit]

With Oryx, the Taken King slain in the King's Fall raid it's pretty obvious that the Taken are now completely extinct. Titan66 (talk) 19:08, 10 October 2015 (EDT)

I'd question this obviousness. Besides the more relevant fact that they keep appearing for people who have done King's Fall, Oryx is using the power of the Darkness to make the Taken. What's to stop the Darkness from continuing this in later expansions? -- SFH (talk) 19:45, 10 October 2015 (EDT)

I remember hearing Eris say in one of her idle conversations that taken linger, but I don't know the exact quote. OmgHAX! (talk) 20:15, 10 October 2015 (EDT)

You're correct. It's one of Eris's interchangeable quotes at one point during The Sunless Cell strike. I think she says it when you come to the long bridge that leads into the boss chamber, but I'm not sure. As already noted in this article's intro, the Taken decay, but (like the zombies in The Walking Dead) they linger forever until they're killed. MorningWalker (talk) 21:43, 10 October 2015 (EDT)
I believe that any Taken with sufficient intelligence remaining can effectively assume control of the Taken, now that Oryx is gone. Why else would Malok, Pride of Oryx and Alak-Hul, the Darkblade pose such a significant threat to the Guardians? Though I believe only this is restricted to Taken Hive of sufficient age and power, otherwise one of those Zealots would be a threat also. The Cabal Taken would surely fit this role well, since they're the most organized militaries in the solar system. Dante the Ghost (talk) 22:00, 9 May 2016 (EDT)

Taken Worlds by the Witness[edit]

Does anyone mind an explanation to how The Witness Took whole worlds during Season of Arrivals, where they been kept aboard its ship, or how those affected by it are left with "time wounds" like with Mars and Titan? Wendigo GL3 (talk) 11:13, May 15, 2024 (EDT)

The Nature of how the Witness took our planets are not properly described, the Macrocosm only acts as a catalogue of the worlds that the Witness took, the time wounds are described in the Osmiomancy Gloves. We don’t properly know what this dimension that the Taken go to is or where it is. The Taken Grimoire is the closest we can get of that. stickTheTrueSorrowMaker (contribs) 11:24, May 15, 2024 (EDT)

What about the Contact activity? Was it the point of the Witness using Pyramids and Pyramid Scales to terraform the worlds it Took with Darkness?Wendigo GL3 (talk) 11:38, May 15, 2024 (EDT)
The Witness was never terraforming our Worlds with the Pyramids, it is a complicated character, wanting to make us its servants by corrupting us with Stasis while making other entities suffer because of its own goals. stickTheTrueSorrowMaker (contribs) 11:46, May 15, 2024 (EDT)

I think the taken are really a race.[edit]

I think this because on their page on this wiki, they have an overview of their Average height, Average weight, Distinctions and Average lifespan, they also have a Sociology section (which has a Biology section) as well as the pages of the other Destiny species (eliksni, cabal, hive, vex etc), doesn't this make them a race just like the rest? 191.6.120.66 16:16, July 13, 2024 (EDT)

They are. That's why they're listed on the Races pages, in the Races Category and listed in the Races Template. They are a race. Did you not know? Voice of the Nastareth 21:38 July 13, 2024 (BST)
