The Diasyrm was an Awoken political figure, a member of the 891, who rose to prominence as a leader of the Eccaleists during the founding era of Awoken civilization on the Distributary. She claimed that Alis Li, the first Queen of the Awoken and allegedly the first Awoken to be born in the new universe, had decided that all of the other as-yet unborn Awoken should come into being as mortal entities, rather than as immortal gods. She thus accused the queen of deicide, leading to the Theodicy War.[1] In the end, Osana Sov negotiated with the Diasyrm for peace, promising that Mara Sov would tell her any secret she wanted to know in exchange. Weary of war, the Diasyrm surrendered and went to Mara, where she disappeared.[2]
It later transpired that the Diasyrm was a puppet of Mara Sov, who had used the Diasyrm's extremism to make her own Eccaleist beliefs appear more moderate and acceptable. This enabled Mara to replace the Diasyrm as leader of the Eccaleists after the war ended.[3]
