Bluejay is a post-campaign Quest in Lightfall and the fourth part of a chain of quests in the Hall of Heroes on Neomuna.[1] Players who completed the quest "Maelstrom" will receive this quest immediately from Quinn Laghari. Completion will unlock the Partition activity in addition to the fifth and sixth entries for the Cloud Striders Legacies Lore book.
Steps[edit]
Step 1[edit]
Visit Nimbus.
- Nimbus visited
Nimbus can help you access Bluejay's old work.
Transcript[edit]
Details on the Occlusion trace back to Conrad Jain, the Cloud Strider who went by Bluejay. He was a former hacker and criminal who ultimately turned his skills toward saving the city and transforming the CloudArk into the virtual world it is today. But with so much network security surrounding Bluejay's legacy, you'll need Nimbus's help getting access.
Visit Nimbus to begin bonding with this legacy.
- QUINN LAGHARI: Whew! My data crawler's running hot! Maelstrom accessed the Occlusion a LOT. She called it a "simulation echo". But it's not a saved file. It's hidden code in the CloudArk! She found it in Cloud Strider Bluejay's notes, so... y'know, kinda need his archive restored. Bluejay was a tech genius. Rebuilt the CloudArk into a virtual world. He also built most of our modern computer defenses. Which means security, ugh! Security access is the bane of my archival career. This is outside my clearance, but Nimbus could help.
Step 2[edit]
Defeat combatants in the current Vex Incursion Zone with a Strand subclass equipped to obtain Shellcode Fragments, and open a Terminal Overload Key Chest to obtain a Polymorphic Engine.
- Engine acquired
- Fragments acquired: 8
- "Awesome! Now that you have the Vex encryption data, you'll need a Polymorphic Engine to brute force your way past their lockout."
- — Nimbus
Transcript[edit]
"Bluejay, huh? That's a heck of a story." Nimbus grins. "Jain had serious problems with authority. Makes me look like an Academy drill instructor by comparison. Big brain, though, and an even bigger heart. Once he learned to actually listen to others, he went from public enemy to public hero. Eventually became a Cloud Strider."
"The Cloud Striders maintain the original sim space he built way back when. It's technically in the VexNet, so we use it like a listening post. Problem is, with everything going on, it's full of Vex. Locked with a quadrinomial encryption sequence too. Nasty stuff. You'd need a Polymorphic Engine to crack it. And a ton of their Shellcode samples."
They pat you on the shoulder. "This is the part where I tell you to stay away. 'It's too dangerous.' But neither of us would believe it coming from me."
Destroy Vex and gather their Shellcode Fragments to continue bonding with this legacy.
Step 3[edit]
Complete the Partition activity.
- Partition completed
- "Whole lotta Vex in this old sim. Not surprising, since Bluejay set this whole experiment up on the edge of the VexNet."
- — Nimbus
Step 4[edit]
Return to the Hall of Heroes to repair Bluejay's memorial.
- Memorial restored
A Bluejay is a pest and a problem-solver, but whatever it does, it does with style. You can feel this Cloud Strider's legacy within the cosmic web.
Transcript[edit]
The Guardian approaches the broken memorial which immediately reforms itself upon interaction. A voice from Bluejay's memory plays out.
- CONRAD JAIN: It's... it's the shadow of every story and memory and hope we brought with us. The stars are off limits, but the Veil knits an entire universe for us. We just had to embrace it!
Step 5[edit]
Return to Quinn to discuss the next steps.
- Archivist visited
- "Bluejay's files are a mess! Why are creative types like this?! Anyway, I've finally sifted through and found a lead for us. Come see me."
- — Quinn
Transcript[edit]
"So it turns out—no shocker—Bluejay found the Occlusion from the first Strider's records. I've got a bigger issue for you, though."
"My 'Occlusion' data crawler accidentally expanded to scan Shadow Legion radio chatter. It returned a hit. The Cabal discovered a new Vex operation looking for the Occlusion and ordered their troops to steer clear."
"So the Vex aren't afraid of the Occlusion. They want it, and they're tunneling into the CloudArk to find it."
