"The Eliksni must update our approach if we are ever to rise. Either join us as we march toward progress… Or be swept aside with the vestigialities."
— Praksis.

Praksis, the Technocrat is a Fallen from the House of Salvation and one of the most trusted lieutenants for Eramis, Kell of Darkness. Praksis is a skilled Stasis wielder and is as lethal as loyal; who will stop at nothing to advance Eramis's cause.

He is responsible for creating the technology that allows House Salvation to wield Darkness and also has a fondness for the Vex and seeks to use them to improve Eliksni technology.[1] He lobbied to Eramis to use the Vex, so he can reverse engineer them and reassemble their parts into new technology.[2]

Biography

Prison of Elders

Born into the House of Wolves, Praksis found himself captured by The Reef who waged a deadly war against his House. Confined within the Prison of Elders, Praksis shared a neighbouring cell with Eramis, the Shipstealer, a noble Baroness from the House of Devils. At first Eramis ignored the young Wolf, but Praksis grew greedy for her acknowledgement who reminded her of the Dregs that sought the attention of her old Kell.

Eventually Praksis gained her intrigue and each day they would talk through the walls of their cells and dreamt of a new world. Praksis shared his many ideas to the Baroness and believed his ideas were the first and best ever thought of, however Eramis suspected that Praksis had never reported to a Kell since these temperamental political leaders had little patience for triviality.[3][4]

He often spoke about his fascination for machines to Eramis and how he wanted to build and bend them to his will. He once shared his mad idea of capturing the Great Machine by binding it with Fallen Arc wires as a means to reclaim its power. He drew his inspiration from listening to the prison stories of Dominus Ghaul who had used a similar device to gain the Traveler's power.

Eramis grew curious of his mindset and continued to let him talk and queried him with questions to test the young Wolf. Should he a fail test, he would lose her interest. Eramis argued that the Great Machine made the Eliksni strong, but when it abandoned them they were left weaker than before it arrived. She wondered why he sought its power again. Praksis answered that he wanted the Eliksni to return to that strength with a muffle of arrogance emanating from his cell.

Eramis pressed him on how can he aimed build that strength from the foundations of weakness. The reality of this realisation brought silence to Praksis. Eramis continued by questioning if the Great Machine made them strong or if in fact they had that strength draw out from themselves. His silence continued. She then claimed that reliance was the greatest weakness and asked him to remember this and described his ideas to that of Eliksni infants playing with stacking spheres. His silence persisted for so long that Eramis wondered if he was worth her time. He then answered that he will create "new spheres". To her delight, Eramis closed her eyes and smiled at the prospect of what she heard.[3]

The Dark Empire

As the Red War subsided, the Prison Warden, Variks, the Loyal, initiated a prison break which saw mass release all its inmates, most notably Eramis, Siviks and the Scorned Barons. Praksis also escaped, but his whereabouts following his escape remained elusive. The conversations with Praksis greatly influenced Eramis and following the failed Zero Hour heist of attaining the SIVA powered weapon, she thought to build a new House where the memory of division and petty House politics no longer dictated their fate and build a new world with new ideas.

Praksis alongside his fellow councilors, Praksis and Variks, greeted the arrival of Eramis old friends Phylaks and Kridis and was eager to meet the veterans. He witnessed the assault of Variks by the hands of Phylaks for his past betrayals of the Eliksni before Eramis convinced two new arrivals to begrudgingly work alongside the House of Judgment scribe for the good of all Eliksni.[5]

On Europa, Praksis alongside her fellow Council members witnessed the arrival of the obsidian ship. He watched his new Kell, Eramis, gain new strength from the powers of Stasis. With a new ancient power at hand, Eramis elevated herself as the Kell of Darkness and forged a new dark empire in the form of House of Salvation.[6]
