Root Module Restrictions are a variant of Vex Hydras within the Nessian Schism, encountered in Encore.

Gameplay

Root Module Restrictions will be first encountered in a laboratory containing multiple Vex portals across the room. Slaying the Hydra will manifest a platform as well as a Vex Module//ACCESS that can be used to activate one of the portals.

Later, another Hydra will be encountered at a cavern containing Ishtar buildings and must be destroyed by the Guardian to activate the portal leading to the Ishtar Research Facility.
