Cytomachines are intelligent nanites developed during the Golden Age to fulfill a variety of specialized functions. At least some types required replication chambers to manufacture.

Known cytomachine types include:

  • Medical cytomachines: Injected into the body to repair physical trauma.[1][2]
  • Olympus Tears: Unknown function. Recorded information into a "cellular memory".
  • VIS(NU): Used as part of the containment system for the K1 Anomaly and brought to Europa as part of Clovis I's expedition equipment.[3]
  • B-RA/MA: Unknown function, included in Clovis I's Europa expedition equipment.[3]
  • SIVA: A general-purpose, self-replicating cytomachine intended to supersede all previous cytomachine types.
