“ | A relic from the days of the Iron Lords, the Iron Battle Axe channels energy from an external source through a series of capacitors embedded in the blade. These capacitors enhance Solar Light, allowing the user to trigger focused blasts at their enemies.[1] | ” |
The Iron Battle Axe is a powerful weapon, signature of the Iron Lords that changed the Dark Age. When Solar Light is channeled within the weapon, the axe amplifies it and enhances it, turning into an instrument of destruction.
Gameplay
The Iron Battle Axe can be used by the player in the Story Mission The Iron Tomb, in the Archon's Forge, and in the second phase of the Quarantine Patrol mission. The weapon can be swung quickly with a light attack that deals very high damage. The heavy attack button slams the axe into the ground to release a devastating wave of Solar fire. The Iron Battle Axe can run out of energy, losing a great amount of damage, but can be recharged by absorbing fire from nearby braziers.
History
The weapon has been synonymous with the Iron Lords for their whole existence, but most of its copies were lost after their dissolution. Saladin Forge would keep one as his signature weapon, surviving into the modern age, and others were recovered by Guardians that explored the Plaguelands during the SIVA Crisis.
Lord Saladin would continue to bear his Battle Axe after his return to the city during the Clash of the Chosen, and brought it with himself when he joined the Imperial Cabal.[2] In this occasion, he also left another Iron Battle Axe to The Crow. The Hunter would in time learn to use it, even bringing it with himself into The Pale Heart to use against The Witness.
Trivia
- The Iron Battle Axe is one of three weapons other than the Shock Cannon and Null Cannon that was added with the Rise of Iron expansion.
