"What won't be given must be taken."
— Weapon description

Falling Guillotine is a Legendary Void Sword that could be acquired by increasing season ranks in Season of Arrivals or from Pyramid focused engrams. Due to these methods no longer being in the game, Falling Guillotine is currently featured in the rotating loot pool in the Dares of Eternity activity.

During the Into the Light update, a BRAVE Arsenal version of the weapon was introduced with a new appearance, different perks, and a new origin trait. It is available as loot from the Onslaught activity and can be attuned at the Hall of Champions to drastically increase its drop rate. A more unique version of this weapon is also available on rare drops with double perks and its own unique Weapon Ornament.

Gameplay

Falling Guillotine is popular amongst the playerbase for being able to do large amounts of damage against bosses and "swarm" type enemies like Thralls, Shanks, War Beasts and Taken Psions. This is due to the intrinsic trait, Vortex Frame, which allows for a heavy spin attack that decimates low-level enemies. A Falling Guillotine that has the perks Whirlwind Blade, Swordmaster's Guard, Jagged Edge and Relentless Strikes is considered a god-roll, as it can shred bosses very quickly. Optimal DPS[1] output with this roll is attained by using the heavy spin attack when at full energy, then weaving light attacks between the heavies.

WHAT WON'T BE GIVEN MUST BE TAKEN."

"THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST SAKE!" The Titan bellowed. The Warlock beside him grunted in assent.

Araito chuckled to himself from his unseen position at the grill. His family's sake was fermented inside a discarded Servitor. The distinctive tang came from rust and Ether.

"We should enjoy it while we can," the Warlock replied. "Might not get many more chances."

"FEAR NOT," his dining companion declared. "We'll find a way into the portal."

Araito thought he recognized the Titan's booming voice but couldn't place it. The cook was struck by how strained it sounded.

"And once we do, we'll RIP THE WITNESS'S HEAD RIGHT OFF. Smoke and all. Just like I did to that carper, Felwinter!"

Here was someone who had died many times. Who had lost countless comrades. Who produced fire from their bare hands. And yet, the undercurrent of fear beneath the Titan's voice was unmistakable.

Araito was disquieted. The false bravado frightened him more than any admission of doubt ever could.
