Hunter Knife
From Destinypedia, the Destiny wiki
- "Firearms are more than enough for a Warlock to carry into battle. Knives always seemed extraneous to me until I saw what a Hunter could do with them. Everything has its place."
- — Ikora Rey
The Hunter Knife is a multipurpose combat knife utilized by Guardians of the Hunter class.
Overview
Hunters use their knife as a utilitarian Melee weapon, designed to ensure versatility in close-quarters combat. Hunters are capable of using the knife to silently eliminate their targets.[1] In addition, most Hunter subclasses channel their powers by infusing it in their knife.
In the Gunslinger subclass, the knife doubles as a throwing knife. Gunslingers carry a large supply of knives, which they charge with Solar energy to cause burns, explosions, or just massive damage to the targets they throw them at. Their Blade Barrage Super throws several of these charged knives at the same time.
In the Bladedancer subclass, the Arc Blade Super infuses the knife with Arc energy to massively extend its blade, damage and reach.
Nightstalkers mostly use smoke bombs and bows, but pull out two knives infused with Void for their Spectral Blades Super.
Arcstriders mostly fight with their fists of a charged staff, but their Storm's Edge Super employs a knife as a focus for teleportation.
Threadrunners latch their Strand power to their knives, turning them into a Threaded Spike they can throw across enemies with the melee or wield as a rope dart with the Silkstrike Super.
Trivia
- Early in the development of Destiny, it is possible that the knife would be the standard melee weapon for all classes as footage from the E3 2013 gameplay reveal depicted a Warlock wielding the weapon.[2] This may have been a placeholder though, as starting with the Alpha, Warlocks and Titans get their own melee attacks in the form of Palm and Punch, respectively.
- The blade of the knife bears the insignia of the Hunter class.
- In Destiny 2, the knife is used by all Hunter subclasses except the Arcstrider and Revenant. The player instead uses their own fist to melee, similarly to Titans.
