7066 Nessus is a Centaur minor planet with an irregular orbit. At perihelion, Nessus is closer to the Sun than Uranus; at aphelion, Nessus moves into the Kuiper belt. Approximately 126 years before the SIVA Crisis, Nessus re-entered the Solar System after an unexpected delay.[1] At some point, the Vex fully converted Nessus into a machine world.
History
After the Red Legion invaded Earth, they began to mobilize across Nessus in a massive effort to start a drilling operation. Afterward, they sent in mobile bases to decorate the planet, as they began to occupy Nessus, engaging in a war with the local Vex inhabitants.
The ruins of Nessus are dominated by Vex and Red Legion architecture. Massive Cabal drills are scattered across the surface of the planet.
Trivia
- Nessus has an orbital period of 122.4 years[2] but was recorded to have reentered the Solar System after an unexplained delay kept it further out for 3.6 more years, enough of an anomaly that the Vanguard noticed.[1]
- The Vex who reside on the planet bear slight technological and physical differences from those across the rest of the Solar System, meaning Variks' comments from House of Wolves have come true.[3]

"In the last few years the Fallen have lost so much—and everything is escalating around them. There are gods and powers converging on this system, old machines waking up, old bones whispering flatteries. They need a new way."
