Baxx, Hand of Oryx is a Taken Ogre that appears as a boss in The Taken King. Originally known as Baxx, The Gravekeeper, it is encountered in the Chamber of Night during the Story mission Lost to Light, where it is Taken by Oryx, the Taken King. Baxx returns in the mission Regicide alongside Ta'aun, Hand of Oryx to bar the Guardian's path to Oryx himself.

Gameplay

First encountered in Lost to Light, Baxx tries to ward off the Guardian from the chamber with its arcane abilities and brute strength (eye blast and ground slam), and protect a shard of the crystal that held Crota's soul, although the Guardian managed to steal it, but only because Baxx became Taken, and turned into Baxx, Hand of Oryx. It then chases the Guardian, becoming immune.

In Last Rites it appears with Ta'aun to avenge Crota before Eris Morn teleports the Guardian away. It can be damaged but has the durability of a Gorgon.

Returning in Regicide, it fights alongside Ta'aun. If Ta'aun is killed first, Baxx will go into a "berserk" state, in which it will chase the Guardian until it lands a hit with his ground slam or is killed itself.

Trivia

• Before being Taken, Baxx lacked any markings or scars that separates the broods, though it can be infered that it once served the Spawn of Crota.
• Baxx's name was formerly Baxx, Thane of Oryx during the production of The Taken King.
• Baxx's has partially red colored skin although he's Taken. This is strongly implied to have to do with how much will a Taken retains in Forsaken.
• Although previously a major enemy when he was a Hive, Baxx grew larger and became an Ultra as a Taken.
• Baxx is the first Taken Ogre Guardians encountered.
• Baxx is the only boss Ogre to have the power to enrage, however this is tied to Ta'aun, Hand of Oryx's death.
• In Last Rites, Baxx can be killed in the brief time he appears, however there is no impact on the story.
