Heavy Shanks are a Shank variant belonging to the Fallen.
History
Heavy Shanks were first created by the rising Archons of the House of Devils from Cosmodrome debris and cannibalised Servitor parts to infiltrate the vault of the Warmind Rasputin during the Taken War.[1]
A year later, amidst the SIVA Crisis, the Devil Splicers created a variant called Voltage Eaters to defend Vosik, the Archpriest in their lair.[2] By the time of the Red War the following year, the House of Dusk began mass-producing Heavy Shanks to provide fire support for scavenger crews. These Heavy Shanks use the same model as S.A.B.E.R.-2, but are armed only with void turrets. Since then, Heavy Shanks have appeared across many Houses and other Fallen syndacates.
Gameplay
Heavy Shanks are heavyweight units on par with Captains and Servitors. Like their smaller counterparts, Heavy Shanks are fully capable of flight, allowing them to attack from unexpected directions. Although they have a weak spot, the vent on their front, they posses very high health. Their armament consists of a pair of heavy turrets mounted under their chassis that inflict Void damage. These turrets can fire independently of the direction the Heavy Shank is turned towards, allowing them to shoot at targers behind themselves, or fire at two foes simultaneously. On top of that, Heavy Shanks always gain Solar Absorption Shields with the default Shielded Foes Modifier, independently of the Hot Knife modifier that specifically shields Shanks.
On the other hand, Heavy Shanks are much slower and noisier than their smaller counterparts, allowing players to detect and evade them more easily. They also lack any sort of melee attack.
