The Desperation is a quest that is part of The Final Days series of quests offered by Micah-10.

I've been observing the energy coming from the Traveler, and... it's not good. While we've been doing everything we can to heal the Traveler, the Witness' push to complete the final shape hasn't slowed. I have one Ghost left for us to find, and then we can't afford to lose any more time. I'm sending you to find Hecate, a scholar in Hive lore, who once studied under Toland, the Shattered and Eris Morn. Hecate was investigating a rumor that members of House Dusk were moving back into the old House of Devils territory in the Cosmodrome. The House of Devils have been gone for a long time, though. There has to be something else going on. Good hunting, Guardian.

Search for Ghost telemetry in strike "Devils' Lair" in the Cosmodrome.

Ghost: Well, this brings back memories. The Cosmodrome always does. I guess it's appropriate, then, that we end where we began.

(Mission begins)
- Cayde-6: Hey, Micah! Looks like you owe me. I called it: Devils' Lair.
- Micah-10: I never took that bet!
- Cayde-6: It's the principle of the thing — but it makes sense that a Ghost lost in the Cosmodrome might be sneaking around there. And it looks like a few things have changed since the last time I was out that way.
- Micah-10: The House of Devils is gone, but remnants of House Dusk are gathering there. Eliksni communications are bristling with talk about a new Prime Servitor.
- Cayde-6: See, that's big news. There ain't a lot of Prime Servitors left, unless it's a third, jankier Sepiks.
- Micah-10: Hecate is down there, Guardian, and whatever is going on, we need to get her back.
The Guardian fights their way through the Fallen and approaches the Devils' Lair, the entrance guided by a Walker and Brigs.
- Cayde-6: [whistles] There's a lot of firepower on the field here.
- Ghost: Just like old times.
- Cayde-6: Don't know who's bankrolling this, but whoever they are, they got a heck of an arsenal.
- Ghost: Those are House Salvation Brigs out there, but they're not flying the House's colors. Pirates, maybe?
The Guardian destroys the Fallen Walker.
- Micah-10: We're close. Hecate was here, but I'm not picking her up locally. But I did just detect a Ketch launch. It was House Salvation... but I thought they had rallied at the Pale Heart to serve the Witness?
- Cayde-6: Maybe mean ol' space lobster Eramis didn't buy into the whole "embrace the end of times" cult after all.
On the way to Speiks, the Guardian finds a calcified statue of a Servitor. After scanning it, they confront and defeat Sepiks Prime.
- Cayde-6: Yeah, I think I recognized some of those guys — before they exploded. Renegades from the House of Wolves. I think we might've interrupted an arms deal... these House Dusk fellas offering Eramis a Prime Servitor in exchange for weapons.
- Micah-10: If that's the case, it means Eramis is more Ether-starved than the Dusk refugees and pirates. And... that means she's not with the Witness either. If House Dusk was willing to give Eramis a Prime Servitor, that means there must be another. Or they have an alternative supply of Ether... A problem for another day, I suppose.
- Ghost: Hecate was here. I've narrowed down her location to— To your birthplace, Guardian.
- Cayde-6: Looks like we end at the beginning. Kinda poetic.
- Micah-10: Good work, Guardian. We'll reconvene when you return with Hecate.

Step 3[edit]
Search the Cosmodrome for signs of Hecate.

Micah-10: There's a tale of a Guardian and a Ghost that have walked together through insurmountable odds. Ghosts love that one. Maybe I'll tell it to you some time.

Hecate can be found in the Gateway surrounded by statues of Guardians, humans, cars and Pyramidal structures.
Step 4[edit]
Return to the Arbor of Light in the Pale Heart to restore the Lost Ghost.

Micah-10: Hecate could use a little boost of extra Light to get her on her way. Thankfully, we have an abundant source on hand in the Arbor.

Return to the Arbor of Light to discuss next steps.
