Armor is featured quite prominently in Destiny with a wide assortment of pieces specifically tailored to each class of Guardians, and armor for general use by all classes.[1] Each type of armor has their own stat bonuses and traits that are meant to synergize with the player's subclass and weapons.
Overview[edit]
There are 5 different categories of armor Guardians can equip: Helmets, Gauntlets, Chest Armor, Leg Armor, and Class Items. The last slot, class items, is unique to each class: Hunters can wear cloaks, Warlocks can wear bonds, and Titans can wear marks.[2] Colors (including dyes) and decals are available.[3] Class items offers no increase to defense and is mostly aesthetic, but higher-ranking class items are larger and more ornate than default or other lower-ranking ones. For example, a Hunter will start out with a plain white scarf without a hood, but can acquire a more decorative hooded cloak, especially one that distinguishes certain achievements.[4]
Rarity of armor is color coordinated into five tiers: Common (white), Uncommon (green), Rare (blue), Legendary (purple), and Exotic (gold).[1]
Stats[edit]
Each armor has a stat that affects the player and there are 6 different stats:
- Discipline: this stat affects the cooldown of the player’s equipped grenade ability.
- Intellect: this stat affects the cooldown of the player's equipped Super.
- Strength: this stat affects the cooldown of the player’s equipped melee ability.
- Recovery: this stat affects health and shield regeneration rate and the cooldown of the player's equipped class ability if the player is a Warlock.
- Mobility: this stat affects jump height and the cooldown of the player's equipped class ability if the player is a Hunter.
- Resilience: this stat affects damage resistance and the cooldown of the player's equipped class ability if the player is a Titan.
