River-catchers were a species of amphibious predatory animal that lived on Riis before the Whirlwind[1].
Some time before the Whirlwind, the Slayer Baron Kiiraskes fought and killed a river-catcher that had been corrupted with Darkness by a spherical metallic artifact originating from the Black Fleet[2].
