Splinter Mines are hovering mines used by the Fallen. These mines are protected by a shield that makes them immune to damage, requiring Guardians to disarm them. Splinter Mines were first introduced in the Prison of Elders, but would later be encountered in the arsenal of the Scorn, the Kell's Scourge, the Old Crews, and the Witness's forces.
Gameplay[edit]
Splinter Mines serve more as an obstacle than an actual weapon, and are usually employed as part of the wipe mechanic of an encounter. As the mines themselves are immune to damage, players will have to stand inside a circle near the hovering explosive so that their Ghost can disarm it. Failure to do so usually results in a massive explosion, covering the whole area of the fight, inflicting lethal damage to all participants, and thus causing the failure of the activity.
